Kael stopped in his tracks as he was crossing the street on the sight of a draped over passenger wagon slowly making its way down the uneven cobblestones. The elderly light-brown horse pulling the wagon seemed to have seen better days, both eyes and lips drooping from its face. The man holding the reins from his front platform was also a sore sight for the eye. His simple clothing could barely hide the rashes and boils erupting from his pale skin, and Kael could hear faint coughs escape his pale, torn up lips.

He examined the wagon as it made its way slowly past him. Some passive faint talking and careful coughs could be heard from inside the draping, confirming his thoughts of it carrying people inside. These poor people were on their way to their last destination – one of the death farms outside the city, or so he would call it.
Kael pressed his lips together, following it with his gaze. The curse of the people. A malediction, a choice of nature? Hard to say, but the plague was no light topic to deal with. No matter if someone hated the humans or not, seeing a plague-ridden person was enough for even their worst enemy to wish them a merciful death, or so he would believe. Kael didn’t know what was worse – seeing the abscesses and boils and imagining the pain, or the actual smell of the rotten flesh.

Fortunately, there hadn’t been any burnings these days among the plague outcasts while he was in town, or then the winds had been in their favour and instead carried the eye-watering stench of burned, rotten flesh away from them. He really pitied the sick. To be honest, there was a small part of him that was thankful for the cursed blood that flowed through his veins as that it was probably a factor that saved him from a similar destiny as the poor people rolling away in the wagon. The plague didn’t seem to pester those of different blood.

As the wagon continued its slow journey down the street towards the city gates, he examined the people reacting to it in utter disgust or by shielding their face with a piece of cloth, as if it would help. Kael shook his head and continued his slow stride across the street. If he himself would see any signs of the same sickness on himself, he would most definitely choose his own way to go and not wait for the plague to slowly tighten its painful death grip. Some people did, but most did not, thinking that ending one’s own life would strip them of the chance of an afterlife, as salvation was not given to those who sinned. Quite honourable to think of it, living your last days in extreme torture just for the chance of getting into paradise.

Vest stood on a roof with Luciel by her side.
"I shouldn't have let you convince me to do this," Luciel commented and Vest turned towards him.
"It was you who convinced me."
"Oh right, it was," Luciel laughed as they were looking down on the pedestrians walking down there. "Seeing anyone you like?"
"No, but since we are doing this your way, and not my way, it doesn't matter." Vest leaned against the church's bell-tower.
"Don't be like that love, you are enjoying it as much as I am," Luciel's eyes glimmered and Vest smirked, not denying that. She rarely toyed with her victims the same way Luciel did. She still toyed with them, just not this way.
"I may enjoy it, yet I am not the one who is going to drink their blood, so it matters very little to me."
"You have a point" Luciel turned his eyes to the street, "I like him!"
Vest walked over and looked at them blonde man he was pointing at. He was a young adult, student, judging by the books.
"Let's do this."

Vest was walking on the streets, towards the man, pretending to be stressed out when she collided with the blonde.
"Miss are you alright?" he asked when she pretended to fall to the ground, being ridiculous easy. "You...you are Vest."
The man was clearly a fan and she pretended to blush.
"I...I am," she answered and accepted the hand he was offering and she son stood up.
"I am so sorry, it was all my fault," the boy said and she shook her head.
"No it's mine, I wasn't careful. I...I met someone who made me uncomfortable in church and I rushed out without looking."
"Is someone following you?"
"I...I don't know," she pretended to be searching after someone.
"You want me to accompany you back to the theater?"
"Oh could you?" she pretended to be shy and the boy nodded, offering his arm and she carefully took it. "I apologise for being such a burden."
"Not at all, it's every man's duty to help a lady in need," Vest only nodded as they started walking away from the church and towards a dark alley, and she soon heard applause.

"You are as good as always dear Vest," Luciel stepped out from the shadows, smirking at her and the man took a step forward.
"You will not harm her, run miss!"
"Oh, I would never harm her."
"It's because you know I would kill you if you tried," she smirked back and the young man looked between them both.
"I don't understand,"
"No need for you to either," Luciel walked forward, soon having the man in his arms.
"Wait until I have left, I don't want to have blood on my dress," she said and Luciel smirked once more.
"As you wish my lady," she kissed his cheek before leaving the vampire with his pray, knowing that it would be a long time before the boy died, yet it was one human less in the world so she didn't care, she even smiled as she walked back to the theater.
