Chapter 21
It had never felt better to return to Hogwarts. Andromeda took in a breath of the air and beamed. She had missed the castle and everything it came with, even Peeves and Filch, everything was better than the dungeon at home. The sorting ceremony was always a nice happening and they gained a few new students to Slytherin, she didn’t quite remember their names, but the food was nice after which she brought the first years to the common room and showed them their dormitories, it felt weird showing the young girls Bellatrix old dorm, Andromeda had glanced at her sister’s four-poster bed feeling a little sad at her not being there at Hogwarts. Then she walked into her own dormitory and quickly got rid of the green tie, her fellow classmates had already changed into nightgowns and Andromeda quickly changed into hers too. Then she put on her robe over, Hailey quirked her eyebrow, “I’m doing a last check in the corridors and fetching a book I think I left somewhere in the Great hall,” Andromeda smiled, “If you fall asleep before I’m back, Goodnight, and don’t wake me up at six tomorrow.” Hailey laughed, “Will try not to, Andy!” Andromeda had lied of course, she wanted to sneak down to the kitchens quickly, and have a cup of tea and something cold for her back wounds. She entered the kitchens and asked an elf for said things and the elf happily complied, and while at the task Andromeda went to sit down at the table behind the fireplace, and stopped in her tracks, a smile spread from ear to ear, there Ted sat enjoying a cup of hot chocolate. He looked up and his hazel eyes met her dark chocolate ones, he beamed when he saw her. Andromeda didn’t know what to do, so she only pulled her robes self-consciously around herself. Ted stood up and were about to embrace her when the elf came with the things requested, Andromeda took them, thanked the elf and put them down on the table before finding herself ensconced in Ted’s embrace. She wanted to relish in the feeling of being in his arms again, feeling his scent, feeling him. Kissing him but he had touched her back and she bit her lip as she gave a yelp and her eyes teared up from the pain, Ted looked confused and concerned, “Did I hurt you Dromeda?” Andromeda trying not to let the tears from the pain fall, grimaced, “I-It wasn’t your fault,” “Are you hurt?” Ted asked in a soft rumble, Andromeda hesitated, she didn’t really want to tell him of the abuse she had gone through all summer, of the daily punishments etc. “Is it your back?” He continued, and his forehead wrinkled in concern for her, he looked rather adorable and had she not been focusing on trying to breathe through the pain, she would’ve kissed him. Andromeda still hadn’t said anything, she was trying to find a way to tell him something but not all or perhaps get away with saying nothing at all. Ted gently pulled a curl out of her face and kissed her brow before sliding her robe of her shoulder. Andromeda shivered at his touch, almost forgetting the wounds that he would see through her white chemise. Ted gasped as he saw the many red, angry marks on her back shining through the white cloth. His eyes searched hers again and his were filled with sympathy, and all the other feelings; anger, pain, sorrow etc. that had been bottled up within her all summer burst. Tears trickled down her cheeks one quickly following the other, and Ted, had he been like any other boy his age he should’ve run by now. Somehow, she the non-crier had cried twice in his presence, and always revealed something weird about herself or her family. But he didn’t. He was all concern and gently wiped away fallen tears with his thumbs, kissing some of them away, careful not to touch her back he cupped her face as he kissed her. The kisses were wet, salty but very soft, and merlin had he missed the taste of her mouth. But then he broke off the kiss and went and asked a house elf to fetch something for him, and he came back to Andromeda with a cream, she looked questioning at him, “It’s for your back. It will ease the pain and help against the scarring.” He smiled sadly, and she nodded, “Oh, thank you.” “Do you want me to rub it in for you?” Ted asked uncertain, “I promise to be extremely careful.” Andromeda knew it was going to hurt, but it was going to hurt even if she did it, and to be honest she’d rather get the bonus of having him care for her and touching her rather than just doing it by herself. “If you don’t mind,” Andromeda replied, and Ted kissed the corner of her mouth to reassure her. He helped her lay down over the table and she pulled up her nightgown (she had underwear under), and he took a deep breath, trying to focus, he noticed she had gotten thinner, he had seen her ribs poking through, and he had a hunch of it being related to those terrible thrash wounds that covered her back. Ted as gently as he possibly could, smeared her back with the cream. She whimpered, and he consoled her, talking to her as he applied it over every single wound. “You’re right, it does feel a little better,” Andromeda smiled and sat up on the table, she pulled Ted by his tie so that he were standing in-between her legs and she pulled his face down and kissed him, again and again and again, she grinned, “You taste of milk chocolate and champagne,” He laughed against her lips, “Luxurious,” She bit his lip playfully, “You are to me,” her hands flew to his hair and she relished in its softness and ran her hands through it whilst they kissed. Ted’s hand were resting in her hair, but slowly as the kiss deepened one hand travelled down her side and gently touched the side of her breast, he started massaging it and she moaned at the back of her throat, she felt a weird sensation go through her body and a hot pool in her stomach, she wanted to kiss him more fiercely but the sensational feeling became too much and she were afraid of what would happen if she let go, so she broke off the intense kisses, the ones that had trailed from her mouth onto her neck and were resting on her collarbone, her breath had hitched and she used her hands to push him away slightly. Ted looked a drunk man, drunken on kisses and affection, but he looked a little hurt at her rejection and her heart tugged. How she wanted to kiss him more. “I’m sorry, Dromeda, I didn’t mean to take liberties, I just… got caught in the moment.” Ted stroke her cheek with the back of his hand, giving her a look filled with sadness. But she smiled at him, “No, Ted, it wasn’t you, I did like it… more than I probably will admit, but we can’t let passion take over our minds,” “I know, secrecy and all,” Ted kissed her brow, he then sighed and sat down on the bench, she sat still on top of the table but facing him, “Do you care to tell me how you got those thrash wounds and why you’ve lost so much weight?” Ted asked worriedly grasping her hand in his, she looked scared and then bit her lip self-consciously, “I don’t know if you…” “Just tell me the truth, Dromeda,” Ted gave her an encouraging smile, she broke under his gaze and sighed. “Long story short, we, me and Bella, misbehaved and were locked up in the dungeon for all summer, we were thrashed by the elves every night, and were only given a bowl of broth a day.” Andromeda refused to meet his eyes, so he pulled her back facing him, and kissed her, a soft reassuring sort of kiss, “You didn’t deserve it, my darling. Not one bit,” He spoke affectionately. Andromeda who had been questioning her mother for long but always found excuses for her behaviour found Ted’s warm hazel eyes on her and gave up making excuses for her mother in that instant. “You have never called me darling before,” Andromeda grinned a blush creeping onto her cheeks. Ted chuckled, “Well not out loud, but in a mind, I have for a long time.” “Ted,” Andromeda looked at him with bright eyes, “Yes?” He asked tracing his thumb over her knuckles, “I… you’re so likable” She said with such an affectionate smile that he almost had to breathe for a second, “I love you,” Ted kissed her hand, “I wish we could be together always,” Andromeda said sadly, “That we could be friends in the open and not in secret.” “You know I wish for nothing more, Dromeda.” Ted smiled as he stood up and gently as to not bring her any pain, embraced her, “There was one more thing I did this summer that I didn’t tell you of on the train,” Ted gave her a teasing look, Andromeda looked at him trying to figure out what he meant, “I almost drove my parents insane,” Ted began, Andromeda laughed, “How?” She rested her hands on his chest, looking up into his eyes and flashed a smile, “By talking excessively of you, my mum went nuts, she actually banged her head onto the cupboard,” Ted snickered, Andromeda hit him lightly on the chest, “Is your mum against this… friendship, too?” She asked more seriously, and Ted shook his head, “Nay, she just got tired of me describing your dark chocolate eyes, and how your smile forms etc. Mum would love to meet you though, but I told her it probably wouldn’t happen.” Ted smiled sadly, and Andromeda felt her chest tighten, she hated the secrecy, she wanted to be able to talk about, and with him in public, she wanted to have at least the opportunity of pushing him up against the walls in the corridors to kiss him senseless, not this. Having to meet secretly all over the school. “I’m sorry,” She said again, and he kissed her as he always did, “Don’t be, when I’m an old man, living alone in my cottage, I shall sit by my window and remember you, remember how your hair followed the wind, how your façade bore a secret smile, how your lips felt against mine and how those beautiful dark, chocolate eyes looked on me and saw the very soul of me. I shall always love you, for my love never ceases, time cannot defeat it,” Andromeda looked down in her lap, tears burnt behind her eyelids, her sentimental heart couldn’t take all that melancholy talk, a future where he’d be all alone, and a future where she’d have her family around her but still be lonely, a future without Ted. Tears trickled down and Ted became worried in an instant, “I didn’t mean to upset you,” He spoke with a warm tone, and she cried harder, damn why must she be a pureblooded bloody Black. She let him pull her down into his lap, and he rocked her against him as she cried into the crook of his neck. Ted cried too, but softer, calmer. Everything about him were calm. He was her rock, and her light. “Don’t ever leave me Ted.” She whispered through her tears and he shook his head, “Never.” “You’ll always be here?” “Always.” Ted kissed her forehead, “I have to go,” She mumbled, and he dried her tears away, “I know,” “I’m sorry,” “Me too,” Ted helped her up and kissed her goodnight, and then just like that, she disappeared from the kitchens off to her common room.

Chapter 22
Andromeda entered their dormitory and noticed that everyone had fallen asleep, or so she thought. “Where have you been off for so long?” Abigail asked, and Andromeda startled, but then regain her composure, she could see that Abigail had been crying. Her eyes were red rimmed, and she worried for her friend. “Nowhere in particular, I needed some time.” Andromeda replied, Abigail nodded understanding, “But how are you feeling, Abbey?” Andromeda voiced her concern and as soon as she had, fresh tears ran down from Abigail’s cheeks. Andromeda were only ever really cuddly with Ted or with her sister or cousin, but in an attempt to soothe her friend she sat down on Abigail’s bed and wrapped her arms around her, bringing her closer so that Abigail rested her head on Andromedas shoulder. “It’s going to be alright,” Andromeda whispered over and over again, as she stroked Abigail over the back in calm movements. “Hush, I will help you with whatever is bothering you, Abbey, you just need ask. I am here for you, always. I’m your friend you can tell me anything,” Andromeda tasted the bitter words, but said them softly, she knew had she told them about Ted that they would either want to or be forced to shun her. “I’m in big trouble, Andy!” She mumbled horrified, and Andromeda frowned, what could possibly be so bad? “How so?” Andromeda asked concerned, “I -I’m pregnant.” There was a pregnant pause following that statement, Andromeda still held her, but both were quiet. Andromeda didn’t seem to find the right words but settled on, “We’ll work it out,” “You think we can? My mother will disown me, she would die of shame I know.” Abigail sniffed, Andromeda thought hard. “I’ll have to kill myself tonight before anyone suspects it.” “There are different ways to solve the problem. The first question is, do you want to keep it?” “I can’t, I’m not ready to be a mother, Andy.” Abigail whispered terrified, “And besides if I don’t kill myself my mother will if she finds out.” “In that matter, there’s potions that will make your body miscarriage.” Andromeda said, she had heard her aunt talk about it at one point. “Oh merlin, Andy, what have I done?” Abigail cried, “I should have been more careful!” “Hush, there’s no coming back if you are pregnant, but we’ll fix it, if you want an abortion, I will personally, if Madame Pomfrey refuses to help, brew you the potion. If you want to keep it, I will stand by your side if others comment on it.” Andromeda comforted her friend. “I don’t want it.” Abigail mumbled, “I can’t.” “Do you want us to go to Madame Pomfrey now?” Andromeda asked as Abigail had fully calmed down, she nodded against her shoulder. “Come on then,” Andromeda helped her up from bed and handed her a robe before they snuck down the stairs again and hurried up to the hospital wing, which was located on the eight floor. Madame Pomfrey seemed to be surprised at being awoken after midnight the first night back at Hogwarts. However, being who she was she quickly took care of her patient. “What seems to be the issue here?” Madame Pomfrey said, Abigail glanced at Andromeda, “Abigail, needs to have something removed, Ma’am.” Andromeda said seriously, “What does she need removed?” Madame Pomfrey eyed the young women and they exchanged glances, “A baby, Ma’am.” Andromeda continued and of all things Madame Pomfrey had expected, that was not it, she lost her professional mien and gaped. Abigail were on the verge of tears again and took hold of her friend’s hand. “A baby?” Madame Pomfrey asked, and Andromeda nodded with her façade firm in place, “A baby,” “I’m not allowed to give her the abortion potion if the father hasn’t given his consent.” Madame Pomfrey sighed, and Abigail whimpered in fear, “I think you’ll find that you will do just that. She is just 17. Her parents can’t find out or they’ll throw her out or kill her. Her boyfriend is a lad of 17, he will leave her. You have her life at stake. If she doesn’t want that baby, it’s her body. Not his. And if you do not give her the potion, I will brew it myself.” Andromeda spoke in a haughty way, and Madame Pomfrey eyed her with an annoyed look. “Haven’t Professor McGonagall talked to you about using your abilities to do good?” “She did, and I’m helping a friend which I consider doing good. But maybe because she’s pureblood it’s considered evil?” Andromeda said dryly, and Madame Pomfrey rolled her eyes, “Very well, let me go fetch the potion.” Andromeda smiled reassuring at her friend, and squeezed her hand, “You’re going to be fine, Abbey,” Abbey nodded and for the first time smiled again, “Thank you, Andy.” Chapter 23 Abigail had been forced to stay in the hospital wing for a few days, allowing her time to mentally cope with what had happened. Andromeda had visited her every day comforting her, but the other girls didn’t know why Abigail were submitted there. The first week of school had been executed and this morning they were going to have double hour in Potions with the Hufflepuffs. Something Andromeda looked forward too, it would allow her to at least steal glances at Ted, even though they could hardly work together without drawing attention. They hurried down from breakfast, this being the first day Abigail could join in too, and they had simply chatted away and forgot the time. With an apologetic smile at Professor Slughorn who were just about to start the lesson, Andromeda sat down at the bench behind Ted. Hailey sat down next to her. “As I was saying…” Professor Slughorn weren’t given time to finish the sentence when a Hufflepuff girl ran in, “I’m so sorry I’m late Professor!” She cried, Andromeda couldn’t quite believe her eyes, Amelia Bones who used to be chubby and clumsy and turned into a lanky, curvy woman over the summer with sparkling green eyes. Everyone who hadn’t seen her yet were in shock, boy or girl didn’t matter. “Hey Teddy, can I sit here?” Amelia flashed him a smile, and Ted smiled back, Andromeda felt her skin crawl at this. She scoffed at the use of the nickname, how outrageous. “Of course, Mia.” He moved so she could fit, and Andromeda felt her blood boil a little, she didn’t know why she felt that way at seeing them interact, but it annoyed her nonetheless. “Today we are going to brew the beautification potion.” Professor Slughorn smirked, knowing full well that his students usually liked this lesson very much. “It is a complicated potion and I do not expect that even half of you will manage to brew it perfectly.” Slughorn continued and Andromeda took notes, not that he was saying anything interesting, but to keep her eyes of the disgusting flirting that was taking place in front of her. “What said potion does is making the drinker more attractive. You’ll find the recipe in your book and the ingredients in the storage, chop, chop, get to work!” Andromeda quickly gathered her ingredients and balanced back to her desk, she saw Amelia thanking Ted excessively for helping her carry her ingredients, she felt sick. Ted only blushed at her thanks and murmured in response, not even Jenny Vanes had been over him like this, Andromeda thought bitterly. Andromeda grinded the three fairy wings harshly as she watched Amelia begging for help with the grinding, “You are so strong, Teddy, thanks for your help Teddy, I owe you one, anything.” Amelia batted her eyelashes attractively and Andromeda angrily grinded on, Hailey had to stop her, “Andy! You’ve already grinded them to fine dust, now stop looking a mad woman staring in front of you whilst angrily hitting the dust!” Hailey remarked, and Andromeda eyed her haughtily before pouring the dust into her cauldron. She stirred slowly despite how she was feeling and added the morning dew. “Woops!” Amelia cried out as she spilled water over Ted’s shirt, he chuckled, “It’s alright, Mia!” He smiled, and she quickly brought up a handkerchief and started to dry his shirt with it, touching him unnecessarily much. Lucky for Andromeda the potion was supposed to be stirred vigorously or she might have ruined it, her jaw clenched and she almost bit through her cheek. Hailey didn’t really dare talk to her friend, who seemed for some odd reason to be extremely moody. Andromeda lit a fire under her cauldron flicking her wand with more force than she needed to, resulting in a spark touching Amelia’s hand, she looked at Andromeda as she gave a cry, “Ouch, what’s the matter with you?” “Sorry, the fire started with greater force than it was supposed to.” Andromeda said this in a dry voice that didn’t sound sorry at all, all the while she wore that haughty expression that could scare anyone into oblivion. “What happened?” Ted asked as he got back to the bench from another round at the storage room, “I got burnt.” Amelia whimpered, “Oh, let me see,” Ted took hold of her hand and examined the minor bruise, he then took a piece of wet cloth and tied it around her hand. “There,” he smiled at her. Andromeda were furious by now, plucking the seven petals of the fresh rose with extreme vigour. She then chopped the dried Lady’s mantle when Amelia bowed over and whispered seductively in Ted’s ear, he blushed and said nothing. That’s when Andromeda accidently cut her index finger harshly with her knife. “Troll boogers, shit, mm, bloody fucking hell.” Andromeda hissed, as she looked at her heavily bleeding finger, the two in front of her turned towards her but Andromeda refused to meet his eyes, that bloody idiot! She thought, and she was so angry with him that she couldn’t have cared less about her finger, it was mostly embarrassing that she had cut it. She brought her wand up and managed to heal the bruise to some extent even though it still pulsated and hurt. The Lady’s mantle was added to her cauldron and she stirred all the while Ted and Amelia were laughing and goofing around at their table. Andromeda threw in the lock of unicorn hair and stirred once again with such force that Hailey had to move out of the way a little. Hailey tried to conversate with Andromeda, but she only muttered in response. Adding the powdered ginger root and then more heat. She heard someone comment over how cute the two looked, “They been working together every lesson since school started, do you think they are an item?” Andromeda gave the gossiping Hufflepuffs an unnoticed dirty look. The last thing to be done was waving your wand over the cauldron to finish the potion, Andromeda did whilst not breaking eye contact of the scene in front of her, Amelia weighing on Ted, touching him without needing too. “I’m finished.” Andromeda said in an irritated tone, and Professor Slughorn interrupted everyone, “Everyone, gather around Miss Black’s cauldron and we shall see if the potion is correct.” Andromeda didn’t like that Amelia were still leaning on Ted, whispering to him, she didn’t even care when Professor Slughorn cried it was perfect and gave Slytherin 20 points. “Now, we shall try it. Two of you. Miss Black and who else wants to try?” Andromeda really did not want to try it, but Slughorn insisted since it was her potion. To her dismay Amelia volunteered. They both drank it, and whilst Amelia became excessively more attractive, with a more alluring voice etc. Andromeda stayed much the same, her teeth whitened a little and she could feel her breasts changing ever so slightly but otherwise much the same. Everyone gaped and awed at Amelia’s appearance whilst when they took one look at Andromeda who had changed hardly at all, they all laughed. Andromeda lost her temper and scuffed through the crowd, knocking over cauldrons and benches and left the classroom in a fit of rage. “Isn’t anyone going to go fetch her?” Ted asked, and the Slytherin’s all avoided eye contact. The lesson was another hour, but all the Slytherins knew too well that you do not approach an enraged Black. “Oh, I’ll do it then.” Ted cried tiredly, releasing himself from Amelia’s grip, running after Andromeda. He found her in an abandoned classroom in a remote corridor no one ever really walked in. He had heard her sniffles before he had seen her, but he found her hidden under the wide desk. “Andy?” He crouched down and reached out for her, but she pushed herself further against the wall of the desk, he sighed, “What’s the matter?” “Go away, Tonks.” She muttered tears still falling, “I don’t want to talk to you.” “But I’d like to talk to you, Dromeda.” He spoke softly touching her shoulder, she shook his hand of her shoulder and he looked very confused. “Dromeda, what have I done?” “Don’t call me that.” Andromeda sniffled, “Please stop pretending.” “Pretending?” Ted looked seriously disgruntled now, he had no idea of what she was talking about. “I don’t know if this all was just a big joke to you. But it wasn’t to me, and now I would like to die alone. Please leave.” Andromeda spoke hoarse from the crying. Ted frowned, “Joke? What are you talking about Dromeda? – Don’t speak of your death that way. I couldn’t bear it.” Ted entered the space under the desk, and sat down next to her, he didn’t touch her because she had asked him not to. “I’m hideous.” Andromeda muttered, “If this is about the potion, Dromeda, and how you didn’t change as much. It’s because you are already so beautiful, darling, the potion can’t do much for you.” Ted said kindly and tried reaching out for her again, but she refused to let him. “I can’t believe I believed you.” She mumbled her voice breaking with small sobs. Ted looked at her in confusion, “What is it that I have done?” He asked, “You have to tell me, Dromeda, or I can’t help you.” “Why do you bother pretending, Ted? – Just go, go be with her instead. I’ll rot her by myself thank you very much.” It suddenly dawned on Ted that she had heard rumours about him and Amelia, and that she had been jealous during the potions class and that’s why she had looked so haughty and cold throughout the lesson. The thought of him with anyone but her though was laughable, and that’s what he did, he laughed at her. Andromeda looked at him angrily, “It’s not funny.” “Oh, I think it is, silly, silly goose.” Ted embraced her despite her ill-will to do so, he kissed her hair, and laughed more. “I do not see what is so funny.” Andromeda said angrily trying to free herself from his embrace, he smiled, “Your jealousy is adorable, Dromeda, last year it was Jenny Vanes, now it’s Amelia Bones, who will it be next term? – Professor McGonagall?” “Jealousy!?” Andromeda cried, “I’m just looking out for you as your friend because she practically licked your ear, and leant on you and felt you…” “Something which I was very uncomfortable with, you might remember me blushing and glancing slightly back towards you.” Ted said matter-of-factly, Andromeda blushed, he might have done that, she didn’t see it then, “I love you, Andromeda.” He whispered and looked down into her eyes, “You know I do. Now you have to stop seeing green all the time. I’m a decent chap. I would never cheat on you!” Andromeda felt so stupid and embarrassed, she had jumped to conclusions again and made a fool out of herself. It wasn’t like her, it wasn’t like she used to be, when she was always composed etc. Ted sensed her embarrassment and kissed her, she smiled again, and he kissed her nose. “I ...l… I’m sorry for being such a drama queen all the time.” “No matter. I know what I’ve got myself into,” Ted joked, and she laughed quietly. Before she kissed him again. There they were snogging under a desk, when she paused suddenly, “You said you’d never cheat on me…” Andromeda began, and Ted nodded, “does that mean you think we’re a couple? But we, we’re just friends” Ted laughed, but she looked confused, “A highly secretive one, but yes, I do think of you as my girlfriend.” Ted looked sheepishly at her, and she for once let her heart win, and she threw him a cocky smile, “Fine, let’s make it work Teddy,” She let it roll of her tongue with a smirk, and he cringed, but laughed, “God she’s destroyed that one, hasn’t she?” They continued their snogging and hands were everywhere, Ted trailed kisses down her neck, the way she liked it and his hands travelled to her breasts, his new-found privilege. He stopped and looked down at them, “Did they change with the potion?” He asked, and she laughed, “How did you even tell the difference? It was so slight.” “I’ve looked at these more than I should admit, and I think I would now how my girlfriend’s breast feel.” He said seriously before they both fell in a heap laughing. “The potion doesn’t wear off for another few hours, I’m sorry.” Andromeda grinned, and Ted did as well, “We should get back to class…” Andromeda said, and Ted groaned kissing her pulse point. “No.” He mumbled, and she nodded, “We have too.” “Damn it.” “I’ll see you later, honey.” She winked at him and her kissed her. The two of them scrambled from under the desk and were met with a surprised Professor McGonagall. Their untidy clothing, and swollen lips, told everything Professor McGonagall needed to know. Instead of the lecture they thought they were going to receive, she laughed. “O Merlin. I guess Professor Dumbledore were right. A Black with a muggleborn.” Andromeda blushed a deep scarlet red, as did Ted. Professor McGonagall smirked, “Unfortunately this means I owe him 5 galleons.” “Professor wait!” Andromeda leaped forward as McGonagall were about to retreat, she stopped in her tracks and eyed Andromeda with interest, “Yes, Miss Black?” “If you would not mind not telling anyone, I would be eternally grateful…” Andromeda pleaded, and McGonagall gave a quick nod, “I am not a gossiper Miss Black, and I do see how imprudent it would be if this information got in the wrong hands. Your secret is safe with me.” “Thank you, Professor!” Ted spoke for the first time, having quelled his first embarrassment. “No need to thank me, Mr Tonks. I’d rather you stayed alive.” She paused and turned to Andromeda, “Both of you.” Then she left. Andromeda and Ted looked at each other uncertain and then burst out laughing. “I don’t think I’ve ever been more embarrassed!” Ted whined, Andromeda laughed at him, “Almost the most embarrassing moment of my life,” She agreed, “It felt as if though she could read my mind. I have never felt so dirty.” Ted grimaced, Andromeda pushed him playfully, “Dirty? – Really?” Ted groaned, and she kissed him quickly. “We have about thirty minutes left of class, we should go.” Andromeda tugged him by the hand, and Ted followed, a little reluctant to leave their sanctuary. They had hastily made each other presentable in the corridor before entering the classroom. Andromeda wore a mask of cold-indifference, she threw an annoyed look at Ted who bore a face of annoyance as well. Everything to make it seem as though they didn’t want to be in each other’s company at all. She walked over to Hailey, Abbey and Roxy, and growled at them, “Why didn’t anyone of you come to get me? Why let that boy to the task!?” Andromeda spoke in a loud tone so that everyone could hear her displeasure at being fetched by Ted Tonks. All though the two of them knew that to be far from the truth. “High maintenance that one aye?!” Ted said to his friends who all laughed at his joke, the Slytherins all sent him dirty glances. Except for Andromeda who still bore a rather bored expression. “Let’s not keep the attention at peasants, shall we?” Andromeda said to her friends, “Let’s continue with the lesson.” Professor Slughorn lit up, he finally got a foot in again, and started off talking again about effects of the beautification potion. “You haven’t been this sharp with your tongue for a long time Andy.” Hailey whispered excitedly, Andromeda waved her off, “I’m just annoyed that no one else came to get me if you had to have me back.” “Still…” Hailey were interrupted by Andromeda, “Really, I’m trying to listen Hailey… and would rather not talk more about the incident.” Hailey looked a little insulted but shut up nonetheless. Chapter 24
The first weeks flew by as usual, classes starting up again meaning tons of homework and catching up. Andromeda spent most of her time in the library studying, Hailey, Roxy and Abbey ‘blessing’ her with their appearance every once-in-a-while. Andromeda and Ted had found new places to meet up in, besides the boat house and kitchen; an abandoned classroom on the third floor, a broomstick closet on the second floor, in an abandoned corridor, and a room on the seventh floor that had appeared out of nowhere and were furnished with a large fireplace, big sofa and many cushions and blankets. At this very moment however, Andromeda were getting ready for the Halloween feast. She put on her best robes, had her curls cascade down her back with a little up-do front and her make-up were tinged with bronze colours for the holiday. Abigail let out an exasperated cry at her third try at a wing with her eyeliner, Roxanne laughed at the black smudges around Abigail’s eye and Hailey shook her head giggling, “Help me! Please! By Merlin’s beard.” Abigail whined, “Sorry, can’t do one of them wings.” Roxanne shrugged her shoulders whilst still laughing with mirth. “Here, let me help you, Abbey.” Andromeda put down her things and moved over to Abigail, she took the pencil from Abigail and licked the end of it grimacing at the bad taste of the liner on her tongue. Andromeda gently took hold of her face with one hand whilst holding the brush with her teeth and wiping the smudges away with a tissue. “Hold still now,” Andromeda said as she carefully dragged the pencil in a line over the eyelashes and out in a wing, and back before painting the wing black. She backed away a few steps, pencil still in hand, eyeing the work, “Happy with that wing, Abbey?” Andromeda asked, and gave her the hand-mirror, “Yes! Thank you, Andy! You just saved my day, Flint would have laughed at me if I’d done it myself.” “Abbey?” Andromeda said calmly as her friend walked to the stairs, “Yes?” Abigail turned around excitedly, “The other eye?” Andromeda grinned, and Abigail smacked her forehead, “Merlin’s old pants I’m such a silly goose!” Andromeda carefully did the other eye, twice, as she wanted them to match perfectly before they all could go up to the great hall feast. Ted’s jaw dropped ever so slightly when he saw Andromeda enter with her friends, god she was beautiful he thought. “Close your mouth, Tonks. You’re drooling!” His friend Amos Diggory grinned, Ted closed his mouth and glared at Amos for a few seconds before smiling again. Andromeda saw him in her peri vision and smiled small, he was quite dashing as well, in clean clothes, not robes, she rolled her eyes almost laughing, of course not. He wore fancy muggle clothing. But, and Andromeda wouldn’t be the first to admit it, he looked sexy as hell in it. “Andromeda,” Narcissa tapped her on the shoulder, Andromeda flinched before realising who it was, “What’s the matter Cissy?” Andromeda asked her little sister concerned, Narcissa looked weary, “I…” Narcissa trailed off, her bottom lip quivering, Andromeda frowned, knowing what storm was coming, “Well?” Andromeda encouraged her sister to continue her sentence, Narcissa looked vulnerable, “Lucius kissed another girl.” Narcissa sobbed, and flung her arms around her sister’s neck, Andromeda startled but gently placed her arms around her sister. “Hush, I’ll talk to him.” She stroked her over the back, “You will?” Narcissa looked at her through misty eyes, and Andromeda found herself nodding. “Now?” “Of course, sweetheart.” Andromeda replied a little uninspired, but nonetheless she found herself approaching said person. “Malfoy, a word.” Andromeda spoke in a dreary sort of voice that sent chills down his spine, it was the calm before the storm. A Black’s warning. Lucius Malfoy who had been laughing with his friends turned and looked at the two-year-older student, who were the sister of the girl he'd just cheated on. Andromeda rolled her wand between her fingers calmly, but the motion was scary enough because Malfoy knew full well what a talented witch the middle sister of the Blacks was, and that he stood no chance. He gulped, “Now?” “Yes, now.” Andromeda said in a short tone, bearing an expression of creepy indifference. “Alright.” Malfoy stood up and followed her out through the doors. Right outside the great hall she turned quickly, looking at him with fire burning in the dark chocolate eyes, wand ready. “How dare you, Malfoy!” She hissed, and he backed up against the wall, hands held up. “I don’t know what you’re referring to.” He whimpered as the touch of her wand drew nearer, “My sister saw you kissing another girl. Which is weird considering you’re with her.” Andromeda looked from her nails, almost bored, at him. “It wasn’t what it looked like.” Malfoy tried, but Andromeda shook her head, “Lies, Malfoy. Now, I could hex you, but I won’t because I have a reputation to withhold. But if you ever hurt my sister again Malfoy. I am going to make you a castrate.” Andromeda smiled daintily at the last leaving him sweating in fear. “Did you tell him?” Narcissa asked as soon as Andromeda sat down at the table, “Yes.” “Did you make him pay for it?” “I gave him a warning to heed.” Andromeda said as she started to fill her plate with all the goodies. “Just a warning?” Narcissa sounded disappointed, “Bella would’ve hexed him.” “Well, I’m not that girl. I’m a head girl. I cannot go around hexing students. I give warnings. It's what I do.” Andromeda replied sternly, then looked towards Malfoy who had just sat down, he shook a little, “But I think that was enough.” Narcissa looked towards her boyfriend, and smiled, it had indeed shaken him a little. “Thanks, Andy!” “That’s fine.” Andromeda said uninterested, looking to start up a conversation with her own friends instead. Meeting Ted’s eyes from over the Hufflepuff table for a brief second, she noticed the confusion in his eyes, and he made a small nod towards Malfoy. Andromeda shook her head discreetly. Later that evening, Andromeda snuck off, blaming her disappearance on prefect duties. She entered the abandoned classroom and were about to start explaining the whole Malfoy thing, when Ted quieted her down by kissing her fiercely on the lips. “Not now,” He mumbled between warm kisses, she nodded, and her hands flew to his hair. He trailed kisses down her neck, and she hopped up and wrapped her legs securely around his waist. She forced his trailing kisses up to her mouth again deepening the kisses. “You look gorgeous tonight, Dromeda.” Ted moaned, “Shut up, Ted and kiss me.” Ted laughed against her lips, “As you wish.” The kisses got more passionate but suddenly they heard the door handle creaking. They had locked the door, but it wasn’t hard to figure out that the person would flick it open with their wand. Andromeda looked panicked at Ted, but he smiled, he quickly opened the door to the small storage, whilst still carrying Andromeda. She closed the door behind them, and then locked it. “We have to be very quiet Ted.” Andromeda reprimanded hearing the door to the classroom flick open, “Are you a witch or not, Black?” Ted grinned, “Silencio!” He pointed his wand to the door, Andromeda blushed and then hopped down onto the floor. “Come here.” Ted pulled her to him again and kissed her hungrily on the lips. “Ted is that you?” Amos voice was heard from just outside the storage room, Andromeda’s eyes widened in fear, and pure panic as she looked at Ted. He looked equally discomposed but calmed a little. “Ted, I heard you. You in there? – Need help to get out?” Amos asked, “Eh, no that’s fine Amos.” Ted replied, “Oh, are you with a girl?” Amos asked teasingly, “Who? I didn’t notice any of our girls disappearing.” Amos laughed, “Come on, I’ll open the door, let me see her.” Amos said, “Amos, by god, do not open the door,” Ted said panicking. “Why is that?” “Because I’m alone.” Ted replied, “Eh. Why would that…” “I’m naked.” Ted said, Andromeda looked at him weirdly, and he grimaced, “Naked?” “Yeah… I… you know.” “Oh… I’ll leave you to it then. Don’t get sore.” Amos laughed, and a few seconds later the door were closed. “Naked? Sore? – Why in Merlin’s beard are you guys this weird?” Andromeda looked weirded out, and Ted laughed at her, “What else could I have said? – No, don’t come in here, Amos, Andromeda Black and I are making out.” “Fair point.” Andromeda smiled small at him, “By the way. That was the worst silence spell ever.” “I know.” Ted grinned, “Sorry.” Andromeda laughed and kissed him, “I like you despite that.” “Thank merlin!” Ted exclaimed grinning, kissing her forehead. “You look really handsome tonight, Ted.” Andromeda murmured between hot kisses, “Me? Even though I’m wearing muggle clothing?” Ted teased, and Andromeda playfully bit his lip. He moaned. “Oh God. Dromeda you’ll be the death of me!” Andromeda looked pretty pleased with herself. But as the kisses once again became more heated in the small room, Andromeda got more afraid. Ted were sliding her robe over her shoulder to expose more skin, trailing kisses after his burning touch. Andromeda felt a hot pool form in her stomach and she felt overwhelmed with passion and love. But her mind started reasoning again, and when Ted’s mouth trailed awfully close to her breast, she let out a gasp of surprise and pleasure but fought it and gently pushed him away. “Ted,” She began, and he pouted but stopped when he saw her face, “I’m sorry, Andy. Did I go too far?” “I’m just afraid that we won’t be able to stop it, and you know what would happen if I…” Andromeda stopped her face flushed and coloured. Ted smirked as he pulled a strand of hair from her face, “That’s alright, Dromeda. I won’t force you into anything.” “I know.” “Do you want to go back?” Ted asked uncertain, Andromeda contemplated this for a second before shaking her head. “Can’t we just sit in here and talk?” She asked, Ted smiled, “Of course, darling.” Ted sat down on the floor and pulled Andromeda down into his lap, she giggled as he did so. Andromeda snuggled her face into the crook of his neck, breathing in the scent of him, smiling as she did so, the man still smelt like chocolate. “What should we talk about?” Ted asked, absentmindedly playing with Andromeda’s curls, she bit her lip in thought, “Given the choice of anyone in the world, who would you invite to dine with you?” Ted thought for a few seconds, “I think I would’ve liked to invite my deceased grandfather. He was a wise man, and we had a lot in common. I just wish that I had known how to say goodbye.” Ted said with a slight change of tune, Andromeda took hold of his hand, and he smiled at her, “You?” “Me? – I would invite my great-grandfathers brothers daughter.” Andromeda replied, Ted frowned, “Why’s that? – I thought you hardly like anyone in your family?” “Cedrella Black married Septimus Weasley. She’s Arthur Weasley’s mother.” “I’m still a little confused as to why you would like to dine with her.” Ted smiled, “Because I would like to ask her how she gathered up the courage to leave, and how she defied all old traditions and stood by her opinion.” Andromeda said, and Ted stopped snickering, he was genuinely touched. Did she want to leave them for him then? “Oh,” Ted didn’t know what to say, Andromeda however looked up at him, “Your turn.” “Oh, alright, if a crystal ball could tell you something about your future, what would you want to know?” Ted asked, and Andromeda groaned, “That’s a hard question Ted.” He smiled, “I know,” “Hm, I think I would want to know who I marry.” Andromeda said then and Ted stiffened slightly, “Why is that?” “Because if I knew to whom it would tell me a lot about my life. For example someone weird and slimy – definitely arranged meaning my life would be pretty tragic. Not married means work, and if, against all odds, I’d be married to you that would mean freedom.” Andromeda linked their hands together and brushed her thumb over his knuckles not daring to look him in the eye. Ted kissed her brow gently, “In the best of worlds it would always be the last.” “Ted, I don’t know if I can leave them.” Andromeda tried to supress the lump forming in her throat. Ted nodded sadly, “I’m not asking you to make a choice. I’ll be yours for always in any case.” “But I hate the fact that it feels as if I’m using you.” Andromeda continued, “You’re not. It’s just a little more complicated for you and me than for most.” “Complicated is only the first name of it.” Andromeda smiled, Ted laughed, “Too true.” Ted thought for a second, “But, I hope you know that if you decided to leave, I would stand by your side and take you in.” “You are one of the best men in the world, you know that Ted? – Even if you are a muggleborn.” Andromeda smirked, and Ted smacked her playfully on the arm, “Minx,” he muttered. “Ted,” Andromeda started after a comfortable silence, “Yes?” Ted looked down at her, “I wondered, because I overheard some other students in the library talking about some kind of protection for men to use against children.” Ted looked really confused, “Eh? Did you hear what it was called? I don’t think I’ve heard of defence against children for males, or why you would need to defend yourself against them.” “It was called a con-col, eh. Dome something…” Andromeda grimaced, “Some weird muggle thing I assume.” Ted’s cheeks flamed hot, “Eh, you mean a condom?” “Yeah, I think that might have been what they said.” Andromeda nodded, “It’s a…” Ted blushed, “thing made of latex that you use as protection when you have sex to prevent children.” Andromeda blushed furiously, “Oh.” “Yeah.” Ted snickered a little uncomfortable. “I shouldn’t have asked,” Andromeda said embarrassed, Ted shook his head, “No, don’t feel that way. I love it when you ask questions about muggle things. It’s liberating knowing that I know more than you for once.” He winked and she laughed at him. “Maybe I should take on muggle studies and take your glory away.” Andromeda teased and he groaned but then he smiled, “You would never do that. You would be to proud,” “It’s more that I would be dead if I took it than fear of hurting my pride.” “True, I’d rather have you alive.” “Thanks.” Andromeda grinned, Ted looked at his watch and gasped, “Holy guacamole!” “Holy guacamole?” Andromeda laughed a proper belly laugh, making Ted laugh too, “No, but, haha, she’s ten to two.” Ted said breathing deeply to stop laughing, Andromeda stopped immediately, “MERLINS HIPPOGRIFFS!” Andromeda shrieked, “I’m dead meat.” “Gorgeous dead meat if I may say so.” Ted snickered, but Andromeda glared at him, “It’s not funny Ted.” Her tone was serious now and Ted knew Andromeda had a short temper especially when worried or stressed so he let her be for now. “Just lie.” “It’s seems to be all I do lately” Andromeda sighed, “But, I have to go. No matter how little I wish to leave.” “Who are you going with to the Yule ball?” Ted asked as she stood up to leave, “Rumour, meaning my mother, has it that Rabastan will ask me out,” Andromeda made a disgusted face. “And if he does?” Ted asked with a tinge of jealousy in his voice, “I’ll have to accept.” Andromeda looked at him apologetic. “Alright. Can I go?” “Of course, you can. What would you tell the others!?” “Would it be alright if I went with Mia?” Andromeda gave him a murderous look, “Why would you want to go with her?” Ted almost laughed at her but maintained his normal expression, shrugging his shoulder, “She’s nice and she looks alright.” “Send me your wedding invitation, will you?” Andromeda said maliciously, and Ted hurried to her, laughing, “I’m only joking,” He kissed the corner of her mouth, “I’ll go with someone else. I will probably stare at you all night in any case.” He winked and kissed her again, and all her anger melted away with his touch. “You and your arse.” She whacked his arm, he grinned and then kissed her again. “I really have to go,” she mumbled between kisses, Ted nodded but didn’t stop, “No, I really must, Ted.” She tried again, and he let go of her reluctantly, “Sleep well, Dromeda!” He gave her a last peck, “Sweet Dreams, Ted!” She smiled and left him in the small storage room. Andromeda snuck into the dorm a short while later, and found only Roxanne in her bed, “Where have you been?” “Nowhere and everywhere.” Andromeda replied as she started changing into her nightgown, “I just wandered around the castle to clear my mind.” Roxanne nodded understanding, “Hailey and Abigail are with Smith and Flint.” “O.” “Yes, so they probably won’t be back for another hour or so.” Roxanne yawned, Andromeda washed of her make-up and then lay down in her bed, “Good night, Roxy.” “Sleep tight, Andy!” Then after a few minutes of thinking about Ted, and his soft lips she fell asleep.

Chapter 25 Andromeda almost broke into a run, she had overslept for the first time in her Hogwarts years. They had Defence against the dark arts with the Hufflepuffs. Andromeda rushed inside, everyone eyed her interestingly, she almost blushed. But she composed herself and went to the free seat beside Roxanne, apologising to Professor Avery for her late arrival. Roxanne slipped her a note, ‘Why were you late?’ Andromeda eyed her with a haughty expression, ‘Why didn’t you wake me up?’ Roxanne had the decency to blush, they hadn’t awoken their friend, and no one had run down to wake her when she hadn’t showed up for breakfast. They had all been too busy with guys. The attention was then once more turned to the board where Professor Avery were outlining the uses of hexes. Ted managed to catch Andromedas eyes, and he raised his eyebrows, Andromeda gave a quick unnoticeable shake of her head. Then the pain came, and she gasped, for the second time that morning gaining the attention of anyone. Professor Avery stopped lecturing, “Miss Black, are you quite alright?” “Yes,” Andromeda replied restraint, fighting the pain in her abdomen, it felt as though daggers shot through her. “Maybe you should go see Madame Pomfrey?” Professor Avery eyed her with concern, “you do not look too well!” Andromeda were about to protest when another painful spasm shot through her making her double-over in pain. She moaned quietly and tried to stand up straight. “Can anyone escort Miss Black to the hospital wing?” Professor Avery asked worriedly, No one said a thing everyone were perplexed by her condition, their Professor sighed, “For Merlin’s sake, you take her boy!” He pointed at Ted who looked baffled for a second before he followed Andromeda out of the classroom. As soon as they were out in the corridor he brought her arm around his shoulders supporting her weight on him. She leant into him groaning in pain. “Will you be able to walk?” Ted asked, and she nodded, “Yes.” They had barely managed ten steps when she doubled over in pain again and then threw up on him. Ted produced his wand and pointed at himself, “Scourgify,” The vomit disappeared from his robes, he then sat Andromeda down on a bench and helped her wash her face. He was very gentle and calm, she on the other hand were crying softly muttering apologies. Ted kissed her cheek quickly making sure no one were out in the corridor. “It’s fine, Dromeda. Come on, let’s get you to the hospital wing.” Andromeda groaned as he helped her stand up again, the taste in her mouth disgusting and the pain still very much there. Ted held his arm around her for support, and his heart went out to her. The pain moved up to her back as well as down her thigs, it hurt even to move the slightest. All she wanted to do was to curl up into a ball and eat tons of chocolate. Ted managed, how she couldn’t for the lord account to, to get her up the stairs. As they were walking through the corridor on the eight floor, she doubled in pain again, the cramps shook her, and she threw up on the floor again, Ted held her hair and soothingly stroke her back. He cleaned her up again and vanished the vomit. Tears had sprung to her eyes again. He stroked her cheek and kissed her sweaty brow. “Where does it hurt?” He then asked, Andromeda coloured. “My abdomen.” She replied quietly embarrassed, “Have you eaten something bad?” Ted continued determined to figure out why she was feeling so bad, “No, it’s fine,” She said between clenched teeth as another cramp came. Teds eyes were on her abdomen, trying to figure it out, but then his eye caught something red trickle down her pale legs, the knee-socks stopping the blood from travelling further down. His eyes went wide, and he didn’t know what was happening. Was she bleeding to death? Was she going to be alright? Had it ever happened to anyone he knew? Could it be stopped? Or would he have to watch her mould away? Andromeda were clutching her abdomen, massaging it with her finger tips, suddenly noticing Ted’s paleness, “What?” She said with a pained expression – another cramp. “You’re bleeding.” He pointed dumbfounded at her leg, and she looked down to find dark blood trickling down her legs. Andromeda felt she could faint of embarrassment. She turned a deep shade of red and could almost not meet his eyes. “Dromeda? Can you hear me? You’re bleeding, we have to hurry towards Madame Pomfrey, lest you faint or die,” Ted rambled on, but Andromeda stopped him with a look, “What do you mean die?” “Aren’t you dying?” Ted asked worriedly, and even though Andromeda were blushing profusely and in extreme pain she couldn’t help but smile at him. “No, this happens every month.” Andromeda said with an embarrassed look, thinking he’d catch on. “What? Is it a kind of illness you haven’t told me you had?” Ted looked as pale as a ghost, “No, it’s…” Andromeda couldn’t meet his eyes, she felt so missus. “You know, a woman thing.” “What woman thing?” Ted asked confused. “Don’t make me say it.” Andromeda was scarlet. “I don’t know what you…” Then suddenly it dawned upon him, as if he were struck by lightning, “Oh…” “Yeah, so could we just.” Andromeda murmured embarrassed, Ted shook himself out of his trance, “Of course.” “Sorry.” “What? You shouldn’t feel sorry. I should though. For being the thickest boyfriend in the universe. What do you need? Chocolate? I’ll smuggle you some, and some hot cocoa. A hot water bottle perhaps? A cosy blanket? Massage?” Ted took hold of her hand affectionately, and she laughed, “You’re so sweet, Ted.” She kissed his cheek quickly then looking around again making sure no one saw, “But what’s a hot water bottle?” “You don’t have it here?” She shook her head decidedly at him, “My mum swears by it when she has her menses. I’ll give you one to try out, your cramps seem unusually strong.” Ted squeezed her hand affectionately, she blushed, “Thank you!” Andromeda didn’t know what else to say, she felt a little awkward because he was so calm about her monthlies, something which she hardly ever mentioned to anyone, witch or wizard. She felt embarrassed by it. It was such a taboo subject. They weren’t supposed to talk about it, so they didn’t. In fact, they never mentioned it so when they started she had thought she was dying. Ted knelt at her feet and she quirked an eyebrow at him. He looked up smiling, then as if it were nothing, he wiped the blood on her legs away with his sleeve. Andromeda gasped as it tickled her and were astonished at him for being so easy with such a thing. He stood up and gave her a quick kiss before they walked the last bit to the hospital wing, she leant on him for support, the cramps firing up again. “Thank you, Mr Tonks but I’ll take it from here. And you’ll leave, its women only for this sort of matter.” Madame Pomfrey chastised as he tried to stay by saying their professor had told him he had too. Andromeda gave him a smile and mimed a thank you before he was pushed out of the doors. “Now poor dear, lie down here for me,” Madame Pomfrey pushed her gently in the direction of the bed she meant for her to use. Andromeda lay down awkwardly feeling the embarrassment once again for her ailment. The nurse didn’t care however, seeing students like this many times before, and she quickly whipped up a potion and had her drink the disgusting drink. It made wonders however, and Andromeda felt relieved beyond measures. She had never had such a potion since her mother never spoke of such things. Andromeda had borne the awful cramps for 7 years. Being once a month incapacitated and bedbound feeling as if her body were killing her. “Now, do you feel better?” Madame Pomfrey said as she came back to her bedside, Andromeda smiled relieved, “Yes, thank you, Ma’am.” “Do you have any pads?” Madame Pomfrey asked a very red Andromeda, “I don’t know what that is?” Andromeda murmured embarrassed, Madame Pomfrey gave a frustrated cry, “Do you mean to tell me that your mother has you using cloth?” “Yes, but what other option is there?” Andromeda were confused, Madame Pomfrey sighed, “There’s pads, a muggle invention, a great invention might I add. You use it, and it works for up to 8 hours, and are more hygienic, you throw them away when you change them.” “Oh.” Andromeda were surprised, muggles could indeed sometimes outsmart the wizards, as an example -flushing toilets. “Do you want a few?” Madame Pomfrey asked, “Don’t suppose you want any tampons? You insert them…” “No, thank you. But I would rather want a few of those…” Andromeda coloured, “Pads?” “Yes, please.” “I’ll fetch some for you!” Madame Pomfrey went to one of her cupboards and quickly came back with a handful of pads. Andromeda cast her eyes down when she a little humiliated received them. “Do you want me to show you how to put them on?” “No, thank you, I think I’ll manage.” “Very well then, off you pop, Miss Black, have a rest.” Madame Pomfrey said sharply but kindly and Andromeda left. First things first, Andromeda went to the bathroom and into one of the stalls, sat down and tried to figure out how to use the pads. Easy enough it was, and she then left for the peace and quiet of the abandoned classroom. Her abdomen was still hurting slightly but it wasn’t the same acute pain. She sat down in the corner of the classroom leaning onto the wall breathing deeply, trying to relax. A few minutes in she heard the door creak open and the prettiest sight were in front of her. Ted were carrying a blanket, a pillow, a hot water bottle, and from his pockets bars of chocolate popped out and in another pocket were bottles of butterbeer. The tears trickled down her cheeks rapidly and the sobs involuntarily escaped her. Ted rushed to her after closing the door, locking it and silencing it. He dropped the things he held to hold her, and she sobbed into his chest. “Thank you, Ted,” She cried, and he laughed and kissed her soundly on the lips, “Silly goose.” He muttered and kissed her nose, “I love you,” “Not as much as I love you right now.” Andromeda kissed him, “Thank you so much. You’re so considerate.” “Come here, Darling.” He wrapped the blanket around her, put the hot water bottle against her abdomen, and the pillow behind her, before handing her chocolate and butterbeer. Andromeda kissed him gratefully, “You are truly the best man there is, you, big teddy bear.” Ted laughed, “Very funny!” “Can we stay here forever?” Andromeda asked comfortable for the first time that day, snuggled into his chest, feeling the warmth of him and the bottle relaxing the tense muscles. “I wish.” Ted murmured into her hair, stroking her arm. Chapter 26
However, they could not. And thus, continued the day separated from each other. The pain was still ever so present with Andromeda, but she could bear it better. She could not, alas, stay away from the pain that were Rabastan Lestrange. He found her in the library during the afternoon, where she was hiding away from him. “Blast.” She muttered under her breath but wore the ever so platonic facial expression. Rabastan were surrounded by his other friends and they were goofing around a bit before he walked proudly towards her. She would have laughed for he looked a peacock almost. “Black.” He called for her attention and she looked up at him, “Lestrange,” she acknowledged, “I meant to ask for your hand to the Yule ball,” He said with such arrogance that Andromeda had rather refused him. But she could not for it would mean punishment from home far worse than the aspect of going with him, Andromeda raised an eyebrow, but other than that did not change her appearance, “Very well then, I will go with you. Thank you for asking.” Andromeda said diplomatically, and Rabastan threw her a disgusting smile of obnoxiousness. She felt her stomach surge in protest against this. Rabastan advanced toward her and took her hand, bowed over it and kissed it like a proper brought up pureblood. But she felt rather sickened by it. The other boys wolf whistled and laughed. Then Rabastan left her to her misery. Andromeda slammed her head on her book and sighed, “Fuck me.” She whispered even though it was far from ladylike wording. She scanned through her things, decided she couldn’t concentrate anymore on her essay about the history of magic. Andromeda quickly plucked her things together and poured them into her brown leather bag and stood up ready to leave. But that was not to be. She came face to face with Araminta Crouch, a sixth year Slytherin and her girlfriends. Andromeda hid her surprise and quirked an eyebrow carefully, “What’s the occasion, Crouch?” Andromeda used a bored tone, as she hung her strap on her shoulder, folding her arms. “What the hell do you think you’re doing Black?” Araminta spat, and the other girls nodded, Andromeda raised both her eyebrows slowly, “I think I’m leaving the library. But I’m assuming that it’s not what you’re referring to.” “Don’t get clever with me Black!” Araminta said in a threatening tone, Andromeda bore a small smile, “I surely will not, I do want you to comprehend it.” “Shut it Black!” Clearwater growled behind Araminta, Andromeda gave her a stern look, and she shrunk immediately, “You’re such a slimy, disgusting little slut, aren’t you?!” Araminta said venomously, and Andromeda were indeed surprised at this, but chose to remain stone-faced. “On what charge?” Andromeda asked calmly, but she gripped her wand that lay inside her robe, Araminta noticed this and her courage sunk a little. “You’re fucking my boyfriend!” Araminta actually spat on her, Andromeda dried the spit off with her sleeve and frowned slightly, “That’s a harsh accusation.” Andromeda retorted, and Araminta lashed out at her, but her friends held her back. Andromeda pulled her wand out but stood as calm as before. But the wand was a silent threat that spoke very loudly. “You’re a fucking whore!” Araminta continued, Andromeda breathed deeply through her nose, trying to keep her calm though her Black blood were boiling. No one calls a Black a fucking whore and get away with it. “Again, Crouch, on what charge?” Andromeda asked dangerously, “You fucking,” Araminta didn’t get to finish her sentence, Andromeda raised her free hand, “Yes, I know of your opinion, Crouch. I’m not asking for it. I am asking for the reason.” Andromeda looked at her coldly, “I give you one chance to explain why you accuse me of being a concubine or I will use my wand. For I do not care to be spoken of in such a manner.” Araminta and her friends quivered, Andromeda almost rolled her eyes at them ‘cowards’. “You are fucking Rabastan.” It dawned upon her why Araminta were so upset. Andromeda for one had not known Rabastan were involved with anyone, but in any case, it could not be helped. They had to go together for the families had decided it. “I would not behave so barbaric. I am a Black. We value tradition and all the old and great families knows that fucking as you refer it to, is strictly of limits for unmarried members.” Andromeda said spiteful, she knew she’d hit a nerve. Considering the Crouch family had connections they cherished with the Blacks as it gave them that sense of something. “But he asked you to the Yule Ball!” Araminta said, stumbling a little in her argument. “Yes, he is expected to go with a certain class of a person, and not some newbie that has nothing of the old roots in magic.” Andromeda replied with a sickening sweet smile, Araminta reached out to grab her, but Andromeda quickly threw a spell that forced Araminta back, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” she said, “Besides, I’m not interested in him. You can have him for all I care. But we were and are expected to attend the Yule ball together to which you will have to find someone else.” Andromeda pushed her way through and turned to look at her one last time, “If you can.” Then she left.
