Thélowên laughed, the speed was exhilarating and wonderful. They swooshed through the forest with mighty leaps. faster and faster, picking up speed and the leaps held them in mid air for a few seconds between each of them. Behind them lay Harlond, around them was the Silver Forest and ahead laid adventure in wait.
"Let's go!" she called out, but looking back she could see Rhaenys curled together on the back of her horse. "Rhaenys?" she called and the tempo slowed a bit, "are you okay?" she called out as there were a mere two meters of distance between them. She had no idea what was up with her friend but she knew that was not the way she usually sat while riding - not even at very high speed. 4 aug, 2018 14:20 |

“Don’t stop, don’t stop” she mumbled while taking deep breaths, in and out. Aimons scent was a welcomed change, and her grip around his mane was firm. She focused on herself so much that she didn’t hear Thélowêns voice until the very last second. Rhaenys opened her eyes and sat up straight again.
“You’re afraid we’ll beat you?” she said and put on a fake smile. Aimon pushed himself forward to catch up with the warg. It was a hard task, but Aimon never gave up. Rhaenys felt the wind in her face and noticed how her hands was shaking. She grabbed the reins harder to make them stop. She muttered something to herself in a different language, mostly to keep Thélowên from understand what she said. She didn’t like keeping her problems from her friend, especially not since they were partners on this journey now. Rhaenys just didn’t see the point of bothering her friend with it since it always went away in the end. 4 aug, 2018 14:29 |

Thélowên smiled with a wide grin and laughed.
"You ain't got a chance!" she called out, relieved that Rhaenys seemed okay - even if she didn't quiet believe it. "Let's go Voron! Let's show them what speed really is!" she hollered and Voron howled deeply before setting of with a grunt. And they soared forward. "Last one cooks!" Thélowên called back to Rhaenys and then she was gone. zooming through the forest with speed higher than she had ever gone with before in the forest. It wasn't Voron's top speed, she knew that, but to reach that speed there would have to be an element of adrenaline and that adrenaline came from threatening situations and this - this was just pure fun. They crossed the forest in a matter of hours and it was just as Voron's and Thélowên's stamina really reached its end that the golden plains were visible up ahead. "Almost there!" Voron used that last of his energy to speed up and then slid to a halt right at the edge, leaving drag marks as long as four meters. "We did it, guess we don't have to cook tonight huh?" she said with a smile and petted Voron's neck. He was panting, just as she was. but this was what they had trained for. The week long outings only to increase stamina was obviously a good thing now. Back when they had started to train as a pair they had only lasted about an hour. A year after that they could last three hours and now they could easily be on the move at high speed for more than eleven hours. Something no other generals could match on their horses. Wargs were built to eat a large amount of food in one go with long distances between the meals. Horses on the other hand needed food and water much more often. Much like the difference between elves and humans. "Well, you are the best Voron, aren't you?" she said with a smile and jumped down. He snorted and huffed before laying down and Thélowên stood in the dark, looking out over the plains at the darkest hour right before dawn. 4 aug, 2018 14:43 |

“It’ll be great to taste your cooking!” Rhaenys yelled back. The next couple of hours became a competition for her, even though she felt from the beginning that they were going to lose. Thélowên had a warg, after all. Rhaenys was completely focused on the road ahead of them, and to get to the camping site. Aimons legs were working endlessly, and they pounded through the forest, breaking twigs along the way. After a while, Rhaenys troubles were forgotten for a while, and she only felt the wind and the motion of her horse beneath her.
Later, Rhaenys started to see signs that they soon would be wherever their first stop was. When she finally saw Thélowên and Voron standing still, she pulled Aimon to a halt. Of course Voron had gotten there first, but it didn’t matter, really. She smiled, and laughed. “I’ll show you when she’s born” she said and patted the bag with the egg. As she relaxed, she now felt that she had been on Aimons back for a long time. “It’ll be good to eat” she said and heard her stomach cry for food. She looked at Voron and then on Thélowên. “It’s incredible how fast he is” she said and smiled. 4 aug, 2018 14:52 |

Thélowên had turned when Rhaenys arrived.
"He is indeed. A real champion." She petted Voron's large head and his tiny eyes squinted up at her. She smiled yet again, feeling great gratitude towards her companion. "I figured we should avoid starting a fire, we don't really know what hides in the high grass or among the trees. The fire can be spotted from afar so just a simple meal I think." As she was talking she had bent down and rummaged one of the bags on Voron's back. she found a piece of bread and a small bag of dried fruit. She let go of the bag and only grabbed the bread. They had to conserve the dried fruit since it would hold for such a long time. Up ahead there might be places where they can't forage for food. "Here." she gave half of the bread to Rhaenys and then sat down on the ground. her back towards Voron's side, "we'll find food in the forest for breakfast later." 4 aug, 2018 14:59 |

Rhaenys nodded as she dismounted Aimon. She took off his bridle, and the saddle bags. Aimon snorted, and Rhaenys stroked his neck.
“Don’t go too far” she said as Aimon started to walk away. It wasn’t uncommon for Aimon to wander away, but he was always by Rhaenys side in a second if she needed him. She turned to Thélowên, who gave her some bread and fruit. “Thank you” she said and noticed that her hands had stopped trembling. She put a piece of the bread in her mouth and chewed slowly. She sat down and put the bag with the egg infront of her. “We managed to survive the first stage of the journey” she said with a smile, as she swallowed the food. 4 aug, 2018 15:05 |

Thélowên laughed, not in a mean way though, and took a bite from her bread.
"Well, we have a long way to go and when we have crossed the golden plains the real journey begins." she stated and took another bite of her bread. She hadn't bothered taking of the gear from Voron - she knew he didn't mind having it on for a little while longer until ha had cooled down a bit. "Have I ever told you about my travels Rhaenys?" she looked at her friend for a second before returning her gaze to the golden plains and the soon rising sun. They were about to view a spectacular moment of the daily life at the edge of the forest. 4 aug, 2018 15:20 |

Rhaenys looked at the golden plains. Her body, but mostly her head, ached, mainly because of the incident before. She took another bite of the food and turned to Thélowên.
“No, you haven’t, actually” she said with a soft smile. She knew that Thélowên had travelled a lot, but she had never told her about it. Rhaenys hadn’t travelled much, at least not before the prophecy about her future had been revealed. She looked at the plains again. “I’d like to hear some stories” she said with a smile. She enjoyed listening to Thélowên, especially when she told a story, as the one about her and Voron meeting for the first time. 4 aug, 2018 15:25 |

Thélowên smiled lightly and put away the remains of her bread to save for another time.
"Well, some day soon I'll tell you more about it but today I'll just tell you of what is beyond these plains..." Thélowên looked out over the plains as the sun rose up from the horizon, colouring everything with yellow and golden light. Making the golden grass shimmer. "Beyond these plains, where the hills take over, there is endless numbers of creatures and plants. Places of beauty and places of death. There are creatures that trick you, humans who would gladly use you until you drop dead and wizards that hold knowledge to themselves. Refusing to share it with the world." She pulled up hr knees and wrapped her arms around them while closing her eyes. Feeling the first rays of sunlight hit her face and the wind tussle her hair. "We might not make it past all of that. But I want you to know that every time we do I'll tell you a story." Thélowên was trying to make sure that Rhaenys knew she was going to be there at every turn and fight by her side to overcome every hindrance. Her goal was not to arrive safely back at Harlond but to deliver Rhaenys safely with the egg to the mountain. No matter if it would be her death. From that moment on, Rhaenys and the egg mattered more than she herself did - and Thélowên accepted that fact and the responsibility that came with it. She turned her head and looked at her friend, "I love you Rhaenys and I will lay down my life for you, for you and your future companion. I need you to understand that you are more important and I will be with you for as long as fate allows me and I will share my knowledge with you as often as possible. To prepare you and help keep you safe." Her words were dark yet honest. They were words of truth, words that could only be spoken if the person speaking them understood the severity of the situation they were in and what they indeed were meant to do. It was not a wish to die, nor a wish to survive. They were only a statement of loyalty and servitude. 4 aug, 2018 15:38 |

Rhaenys listened to Thélowêns words. They made her sad. She didn’t like being the one people risked their life, or even died, for. She knew it was necessary however, since she was the only one who could make the egg hatch. As long as she was alive and at Mount Doom, the egg would hatch. The enemies knew this, but it didn’t stop them. As Rydor had put it; she only needed to be alive, not conscious or whole, to make the egg hatch. It scared her. She turned to her friend.
“I couldn’t have hoped for a better partner during this journey” she said with a smile. It was true, the best odds for her to arrive safely to Mount Doom was together with Thélowên. Rhaenys could take care of herself, but even better with Thélowên there beside her. Unfortunately, she couldn’t say the words back to her. Rhaenys would gladly die to save Thélowên. But if she did, it meant the death of the last dragon in the world and Thélowên would have failed her mission. Rhaenys wished with all her heart that they wouldn’t end up in such situation. “You know I can’t say it back, even though I wished I could” she said and met the brown eyes of her friend. Rhaenys just wanted to make sure that if the roles were reversed, she would easily have laid down her life for her friend. 4 aug, 2018 15:49 |
