He watched the two gentlemen with ease, following them with his gaze as they made their way back to their peers. Humans. Quite simple creatures when push comes to shove, he thought, before placing his gaze back at the maiden, or Vest as her name apparently was. Not a name that he remembers hearing before, giving that as a positive sign at least. Kael couldn’t help but to study her behaviour as she talked. The small details in her body language as she spoke, the shrugging, the sipping from her cup… There was either an obvious lie hidden in her words or then she left out a big hefty deal of her real intentions, that he was sure of. He scratched his chin and couldn’t help to let the tiniest smirk escape out. “As an actress, I hope you’re more convincing on stage than just now”, he said, letting the smirk die down from his lips as he rested his hand back on his knee. “I can go get my drink if you want to contemplate on a new answer meanwhile” Spoiler: Tryck här för att visa! 16 aug, 2019 00:23 |

Vest couldn't hinder herself from laughing at the mans words. Maybe he noticed more than the humans because he knew what she was, or she really let on more than she thought she would. She wasn't sure which she preferred, or that was false, she preferred if she didn't let on to much. But judging from the mans comment, she may have done just that. Rain would scold her, she should really know better. But maybe it was because she was so used to fool everyone, or maybe she had been caught of guard. She didn't knew the reason but she felt like she needed to find it. But that was something she had to think about later, because she knew that she would be stuck in her thoughts otherwise.
"If I was't, I wouldn't be one of the main actresses" she simply answered. Being an actress wasn't something she had ever planned or dreamt about when she was captured, and she was surprised how good she was at it. She wasn't sure if she enjoyed it, she didn't hated it, but being around humans and playing the roles she played made it less enjoyable. At least it gave her some cover and money. And compared to so many other supernaturals she didn't need to be hiding in placed only God knew about. Most of her people did, lived far off, often near the nature. She didn't hate the nature and she had moments she enjoyed it, but she could never live there all the time. It would drive her crazy, she was to used to the city life, have been since she was a child. At the strangers last word she raised an eyebrow. "You want me to change my answer from surviving to what? Not surviving?" he was good, and she had definitely given up to much, or the man was really good, seeing things no one else saw. She wondered what he did for a living, thinking it had to be something where he noticed things others didn't. Or maybe his heritage helped him with that, without him trying. Like she could feel everything living around her. "Some of us don't have any hidden or glorious intentions. For some it's enough to survive, I am one of them, seeing I appreciate my life a lot and wish to be able to live it. And living in the shadows or a forest far away, I wouldn't really live my life, I would be alive but nothing more" Once again, it wasn't a total lie. She had noticed that the best way to lie was to place small parts of the truth in there. It was hared to determent the lie, and it also made it more believable. "So what are you intentions, tell them who I am?" she wondered, needing to know, because if he wished to do that, well than she would have a problem. Either she needed to lie her way out of the situation, or turn violent, something she didn't wish to do, having other plans than fight in a bar brawl. Kael listened to her words, puzzling together fragments in his head to get a clue what kind of shaman he was dealing with. It was hard with only small bits and pieces, but by the looks of it she had been hiding among these humans for quite some time now, meaning she probably wouldn’t be any huge threat. Although, he was not completely sold on her intentions. There was something still missing in her words, something that she left out on purpose. It seemed so… odd, you could say. There were many ways of surviving among humans, but to shield even her real personality towards these colleagues and friends of hers did come with some warning bells attached. Or so it seemed at least – both her body language, the way she crooked her lips, the tilted position of her head – it was all slightly changed in the way she communicated with him and the way she spoke to them. It intrigued him, but also made him cautions. He heard her ask about his intentions, if outing her to her group was anything on his agenda. Before answering he rose to his feet, slowly as not to startle her, only to take a couple of steps to the neighboring table. The only one sitting there was an older man, who seemed to have had a jolly evening, soundly asleep with his forehead resting on the table and his arms spread out next to him. In front of him was a beverage, still quite full to Kael’s delight, and he picked up the cup before retreating back to his seat next to Vest. He needed the drink more than the slumbering stranger. He took a small sip from the cup, letting the liquid roll on his tongue a bit before swallowing. “No,” he replied shortly, looking over the entourage she was here with. He did let it play out in his head for a while – what would these humans do if a stranger told them their friend and star actress was actually just a hoax, if he revealed that she in fact was pestered with magic, she had cursed blood running through her veins, that she was no different from those savages out in the wild? Would they even believe him? “You have not given me any reason to spill your secrets,” he continued, looking back at Vest. At least not yet. He was not there to create chaos among these celebrating humans. 16 aug, 2019 10:59 |

Vest met his eyes, trying to read him but it was difficult. Maybe it was the darkness, maybe it was because she didn't fully knew what he was or maybe it was because he was good at hiding it. She couldn't tell. But it was something about him that made her both curious and cautious. Maybe it was the mystery that made her curious, seeing she met few half-breads, and few supernaturals who acted like he did. The ones she met were either open about it, often being vampires or werewolves, or they avoided almost all contacts like the fairies or dwarfs. Every creature acted the way they did for a reason, and she had learnt how to deal with it a long time ago. But here she had someone who was a part of both worlds, or none of them, and it was interesting.
But in the same time she was cautious against him, not knowing him or what he may do. His question, him seeking her out and how he observed her told her that it was some reason behind it. Maybe he was more in touch with his human side and disliked the supernaturals, or maybe he tried to look out for both sides? She didn't knew, but something about his ways made her cautious, and that was one of the reasons why she had lied. Even if few liked what she was doing, the most that did was vampires, they could still talk about it from time to time, but with him she felt like it wasn't an option. Not that she would ever tell a stranger, but with him it was even less of a chance for that to happen. Vest followed him with her eyes as he took a beverage from another table and she was a bit surprised. She could tell that it wasn't something wrong with it, could the man as well, or did he just assume? She didn't knew and she didn't comment on it, the man could make his own decisions. However if it had been poisonous or something she would have warned him, seeing he was a half-bread, because even if he was human he was also something else. When he finally answered he she nodded as a thanks, if nothing else to be polite. But she also wondered why he had to think about it. Once again she was cautious. No full-bread would ever think about telling on a fellow supernatural, yet he had to think. He was a half-bread and maybe his human side was stronger than his magical? Or did he have another reason? She studied him for a few seconds before she drank from her own cup once more. "Glad to hear it. I like it here. It's a simple life but a good one, one among friends" once again it wasn't a lie, she were among friends, she just didn't saw them as friends, she saw them as her cover, they were humans after all. But they would never know her real feelings against them, until the day she may kill them. 16 aug, 2019 15:48 |

The fair-haired shaman’s talk about friends made Kael realize that this was probably the most he had spoken to someone in a very long time. Thinking back at his usual conversations, he tended to be quite brief, quickly getting to the point and after that moving on to the next thing. There was usually no point in chattering, at least when the discussion would have no benefit for him whatsoever.
The polite talks about recent events or the weather, the enquiring of how one has been feeling when the person asking actually had no deeper interest at all – those were such weird social interactions, probably made up by humans as many other societal rules were. But this, this was different. He even tried to remember when he had talked to a supernatural longer than a few words before but could not remember many instances at all. Even the whole idea of him sitting casually next to a creature of non-human origin was something that almost made him laugh out loud in irony. But, as he already stated, this was different. This was not hostile, not yet at least. It was a welcomed change for a while, not sure if he would prefer this in the long run, but a nice variation from normal. Kael took a small sip from his cup. As he felt slightly less tense as when he had walked in and got caught off guard by the obvious presence of a supernatural, he leaned back slowly and crossed his feet under the bench for a more comfortable position. It was then he took a closer look at her, actually noticing her concealed knife. He silently scolded himself then and there for being too oblivious – first step of meeting potential enemies was to figure out what they might carry. He guessed he had been more aware of her magic than potential close-combat weapons, a small forgiveness for himself. “Are you always armed?” he asked cautiously not to talk too loud, bringing the cup up to his lips again while raising one of his eyebrows ever-so-slightly. He would have thought a shaman going out drinking with friends would not need any blades. 16 aug, 2019 18:22 |

Vest didn't answer at first, unsure of how much she should say. The truth is that she always is armed, with at least a small knife besides her magic. The knife could help her in situations where magic couldn't be used due to different reasons, or if her energy level became to low. She rarely used up that much energy, but if something drastic happened and she had to, she preferred to not be defenseless. She often had Rain with her as well, but it happened that the spirit wasn't around and she liked to be prepared, knowing all to well what humans could do to her otherwise. Normally she was armed with more than just a knife, at least when she went hunting. She carrie her swords around, small explosions and a few more knifes. She normally used the swords to kill anyone, not wishing for anyone to understand who she was. If she started using magic, they may not come to her, but they would understand that it's someone supernatural killing everyone, something that could be bad for every magical creature. It happened that she killed with the help of magic, but then she either covered it up or made the death more natural, just to have some fun.
But she couldn't tell the man that, especially since she had stated that she only wished to survive and were on friendly basis with the humans. However, saying that she rarely was armed when she was now would also be strange. She had to find some middle ground. "I often carry a knife on me, yes" she started looking at the other ones in the room smiling as she was found of them. "They are all my friends and I don't need to fear them, but not everyone are as nice as they are, even if they think you are a human, especially if you are a woman. I have learned that the hard way, and since I try to hide who I am and don't really wish to hurt anyone, unless I have to, I chose to carry a knife for protection" Well most of it was true, she knew all to well what the humans could do, the scars covering her body showed it all to well, scars she would always have even if they were lighter these days. But she had also met other humans after that who thought they could do as they pleased with her, seeing she was a human. None of them were alive today, she had killed them with ease. But after she joined the theater she could't use magic as open so a knife was the perfect weapon. The few that saw it never questioned it, seeing a lot of the people at the theater was armed. Vest took another sip on her drinks turning towards the man once more. "I may judge you wrong here, but I say that you are some sort of traveler, so I assume being armed comes natural to you, especially in these times" it wasn't really a question, unless the other one wanted it to be. But if he was a traveler he saw things she only heard about, how supernaturals were killed off, sought out by humans even in the most isolated locations, only to be slaughtered. If she had been traveling she wouldn't have concealed weapons, she would show that she war armed and ready for whoever came at her. Maybe the stranger was different and being a half-bread, maybe he didn't have the same problems full-breads had, and the man just liked being cautious. 16 aug, 2019 22:25 |

He gave his head a slight nod as she spoke. It was a reasonable answer. The shamans he’d both met and had heard of rarely seemed to wield any weapons and instead appeared to rely on both magic and spirits in their aid in case of battle. Then again, shamans were quite peaceful to their nature as he understood it, which made more sense to not carrying any excess steel around when you can get far worse results using only your mind.
If she wanted to stay hidden for as long as she planned for, there was no doubt that a knife would be the safest choice. Even humans attacked each other once in a while, especially after familiarizing themselves a bit too well with liquor and wine, so it wasn’t too rare to see humans carrying weapons for protection against both supernatural creatures and their own kind. Also, trying to explain how she would have inflicted damage in a way out of reach for mere mortal humans could be tricky without giving away some sort of doubt of her true nature. He took a fair swallow of the beverage and swirled it around in his mouth before swallowing. A traveler. Well, it was not far from the truth at all when he thought about it. It was quite frankly exactly what he did. He did not really see any place as a home per se, more as basecamps of sorts scattered around different part of the lands. Living with your things on your back, roaming the land from woodlands to prairie, even the snow filled north. He was a traveler, a traveler who did other things on his travels as well, but nevertheless, a blood-spilling nomad of sorts. “You are quite right,” Kael said, placing his cup on the table in front of them. “I see it as the further away you get from any city borders, the less rules apply.” He brought forward his feet from under the bench and let them rest square against the floor. “It’s a no man’s land out there,” he continued, letting his gaze wander around the room. He could notice the two gentlemen from before giving short irritated glances their way, most likely annoyed that this stranger took up the time they would have wanted to spend with their favorite star. He couldn’t help but to lift the corners of his mouth into a slight smirk. In case he saw them ever again, he had to remember that he is a playwriter. Quite charming, an alias he’s never had before. “I need some rest,” he concluded, tracing his gaze towards the doors outside. It was some time before his last decent sleep, and now that he had a real bed for the night he had to admit that it was sounding more tempting than ever. There was nevertheless still something not quite clear about this shaman, he could feel it. He had only grasped at a few puzzle pieces of her true self without even knowing how big of a mystery there even was to solve around her. His gut feeling told him there’s was more than meets the eye, that he was sure of. He refused to believe that he would be paranoid over meaningless things, and her true purpose was truly mere survival and entertainment in form of theatre among people who would kill her for knowing that they do not share the same blood. “I have however never been to a theatre in my life,” he said, turning his gaze back at the shaman woman accompanied with a light tilt of his head. An ever so slight grin plastered itself on his lips. “It would be an honor to get to see a stage, and this could be my very few times in the presence of an accomplished actress,” Kael continued. Maybe after a good rest he could get a better picture out of this magical being, and the theatre part was not just any sly plan, it was very much the truth. 17 aug, 2019 02:25 |

Vest had very little fact to know how true his statement was. She heard rumors about places far away, but how much of it was true, she couldn't say. She had no reason to doubt that his words were true, but how bad it was, well she guessed that depended on what you had seen before.
"Maybe. I haven't really been outside the city, but it's less organized and well behaved than people may think. I think we are just better at pretending to be lawful, or maybe we are just better at inflicting harm on each other in other ways. We may not fight with weapons, instead we ruins each others lives with rumors, in court or in other, so called civilized ways" To be honest, she would most likely prefer a axe to the head over being dragged to court and lose everything she owned, forced out on the streets and to a life of misery and a slow death. She had been on the streets and even if she could handel herself and stay alive she wouldn't wish to go back. "Don't let me keep you, I am not one for staying late either" it was rarely because she needed rest, no it was because she could only hunt during the night. So she always tried to leave early to get as much time as she could before the rest of the group returned. "You never know, I am here more often than I wish, they always drag me here" she looked at the others, once more flashing a warm smile, as she liked them, even if they took her hear. The only good thing with coming here was that she could spot her next target, as long as they had no connection to the theater. "You would always be welcome to come by and catch one of our shows, unsure if you will like them, seeing they are...special" It really depended from what perspective he saw it, there was a reason few supernaturals came to their shows. They got vampires from time to time either for pure entertainment or to hunt, but besides that few came. If he leaned more to the human side, he may like it. "But if you came, and I have the time I may show you around" she offered without really knowing why. Maybe because she rarely spoke to supernaturals and it had been somewhat a pleasant conversation, or maybe to keep an eye on him, still getting a strange feeling about him. 17 aug, 2019 02:46 |

Kael gave Vest a slight nod of his head as a gesture of appreciation. He was not sure about seeing a theatre show would be his cup of tea, but as it was something he had never done before, it felt bad for not at least giving it a chance. He couldn’t help but to remembered when coming in to town earlier in the day to collect his reward from the nobleman’s house and the merchants chatting outside. The demand for garlic had apparently reach all-time highs since this new play portraying vampires had begun, and the onion merchant had been able to make a small fortune with elevated prices. They were discussing the play intensely, arguing which part had been the most memorable, as well as speculating what would be the next big hit. One of them mentioned rumours that raw pumpkin was a great way to keep werewolves away, apparently extremely poisonous to them. He had already invested in a small pumpkin patch himself and was trying to inquire information if the theatre had any plans in incorporating a werewolf show next. This had both humoured as well as annoyed Kael to an equal expanse. It was good keeping the inhabitants informed of the dangers lurking in the shadows, but misinformation and making people place their sparse coins on so called remedies like garlic was atrocious. And fighting werewolf with pumpkins was a whole new level of absurdity, making him shake his head before finally entering the nobleman’s house. Thinking back, maybe a tour of the theatre would be enough to satisfy his curiosity of what a theatre looked like – living through a whole play, if they all had even the slightest in common as the play the merchandisers were enchanted about, could be a tough one to sit through. He stood up, catching some of the light from the lit candles in the room after sitting on the shaded bench, and corrected the jacket around him before realizing something he’d forgotten. “Kael,” he said to the shaman, squinting his dark eyes to meet her gaze. “You can call me Kael.” 17 aug, 2019 13:57 |

Vest followed the man with her gaze as he stood up. He didn't seem to be a man that spoke all to much, not that she complained. She got enough ot rambling idiots during the day, and she actually preferred this. There was no idiotic comments, no uninteresting story, nothing that she didn't need to know. And she didn't have to entertain the man, pretending to be either shy or curious about something she wasn't, for her it was perfect.
"Pleasure to meet you Kael" she gave him a small nod "If you are as observant as you seem to be, you already know that my name is Vest" It didn't took long for Philip and Tim to walk over once the man stood up to leave. Vest threw him almost an apologising look before turning to the to men. "Are you alright Vest?" Tim asked and she nodded, back to her shy role. "What did you talk about?" Philip wondered and she wondered what he would say if she really told him. "Oh we talked about different plays, he has travelled around, and seen so many. Did you know that they have a play in the North about how a werewolf swallows the moon, in an attempt to break his curse?" her eyes lit up, a trick that had taken her a long time to learn. Pretending to be interesting in something she really wasn't, to the level she pretended, was far from easy. Both the men laughed. "The only time you say more than a few words are when you talk about plays" Tim said, as she didn't knew that. "It's because they are more than interesting. And to see what different regions preforms is as interesting" "So if you would preform the werewolf play, who would you be?" "The moon, she is a godess, not pleased with the cursed ones, turning her beautiful light into something so dark. She fights the werewolf and in the end kills him and the rest of his kind" "It sounds amazing, I would love to see you play the moon" Philip leaned a bit closer and Vest leaned backwards, forcing herself to blush, something far easier, using her powers to make the blood rush towards her cheeks. "Um maybe one day. The play belongs to someone else, so you need to have there permission, and Ursula have already written another one" she said in a low voice. "What is it about?" "Can't tell you" she answered. She could tell that the men had more questions but she stopped them. "It's late and I wish to go home" "But we have barely spoken to you" both of them sounded disappointed. "I apologise for it. But I need to get up early to rehears" The men slowly nodded and she stood up, soon leaving the pub after waving goodbye to a few people. Once outside she felt relived, away from all the humans, hating them and pretending not to always took a tool on her. She scanned the area around her, but didn't saw or sensed a present, making it safe for her to make her way to the roof, something she did with ease. The cold surrounded her, but she liked it. The darkness, the cold, the loneliness. It was all things from her years in prison. Maybe she shouldn't be so found of them but she was, realising how much those years had fucked her up, like the hatred she felt towards humans didn't tell her that. Or how easy it was for her to kill someone. She almost laughed as she hurried to meet Rain. 17 aug, 2019 18:38 |
