Chapter 56 They walked back into the town square and entered the shop with the sign that said “Sainsbury’s”, Andromeda were slightly suspicious towards the muggle shop, but Ted held her hand tightly and pulled her with him inside. “They aren’t covered with vermin, you know?” Ted smirked, and Andromeda rolled her eyes at him, “Are you really going to hold my parents’ values against me?” Ted poked her side playfully and she jumped as it tickled, she eyed him sternly but then she smiled smug at him, “You know, maybe my mother was right.” There was a gasp as Ted held his hand mock-offended over his heart, Andromeda pulled him by the collar and pressed a lingering kiss at the corner of his mouth, “I love you,” “If that’s how I’ll be treated every time we go to the store, we are going to run out on milk a lot.” Ted wore a goofy grin and Andromeda pushed his arm playfully, “Come on, Ted, what are we having?” Ted offered his arm to her again, straightening his back in a mock-chivalry way and Andromeda had to bite down her tongue not to laugh there and then. They continued down the aisle, and Andromeda turned her head left and right, making sure she would spot the different foods they had there in the muggle world. Ted stopped by the shelf that said crisps and he looked down at her and Andromeda raised an eyebrow, “If you’re in want of my opinion Ted, I have no idea what these ‘crisps’ are.” Ted smiled, “You don’t need to have tried them to know if you would rather have them taste salt and vinegar, cheese and onion or just salt. I admit we don’t have a lot of choices, like we do with the Bertie bott’s beans. Crisps with flavour is a pretty new concept.” Andromeda eyed the different coloured packages, squinting her eyes as she thought which she would like best. “We’ll have the salt and vinegar crisps then,” Ted made a victory fist in the air, “Those are my favourites,” “You are so silly sometimes, you could have just chosen them.” Andromeda bit her lip, and Ted looked pretty pleased with himself, “Well at least I cheered you up!” They continued through the store and Ted picked up some other sweets and before they left for the cashier, he stopped them by the freezer. “Ice cream?” Ted quirked an eyebrow at Andromeda, and her face lit up with a smile, “Definitely,” “Vanilla or chocolate?” He asked as he reached down the box, and it was Andromeda’s turn to raise her eyebrows, “Do you really need ask?” Ted laughed as he picked up the chocolate flavoured ice-cream and put it in the basket he carried with his free arm. They took their place in the que and Andromeda felt rather annoyed by the stares she was given by the muggles around them. She could tell some of them were whispering about her and it took some self-control not to whip her wand out as was her usual reaction. Instead she took a firmer hold on Ted’s arm, and he smiled down at her, but continued to stay focused on what was happening in front of them, waiting patiently for their turn. Andromeda eyed the cashier with a suspicious look, she certainly didn’t trust that beep-noise- machine-thingy the cashier pulled every item in-front. Ted lowered his head down, his hair tickled her cheek and his hot breath tingled through her ear, Andromeda pushed away the pleasant feeling that were arising and raised an eyebrow in query, “It’s a scanner, it adds up the items and then calculates the cost of it.” Andromeda’s mouth formed an ‘o’ and she smiled up at Ted for granting her the information she was in want of, but it didn’t render her completely of the suspicious feelings towards the muggle machine. Nor did she feel inclined to like the idea of the items being rolled away on a moving bench. Thankfully she didn’t have to encounter herself with the thing as Ted lined up the items for them. She thought she heard an older lady sneeze something about it not being a man’s job, muggles really were quite old-fashioned when it came to gender-stereotypes. The few items were quickly put through the weird scanner thing and the woman politely smiled at them, “That would be a pound and fifteen shillings.” Andromeda’s eyebrows shot up almost to her hairline, she eyed Ted intently, feeling very out of place. What in the name of old Merlin’s hippogriffs were a pound, and what were a shilling? Ted however seemed unbothered and reached into his wallet for a pound and fifteen shillings. He handed them without question to the lady and she counted them quickly before giving him a receipt, Ted then brought her alongside and packed down the items at the bottom of the moving bench into a paper bag before they stepped out of the shop. “What is a pound?” Andromeda asked as soon as the door had closed, Ted looked amused, “It’s the muggle currency, damn, I forget how little you know about my world.” Andromeda being the proud individual she was, took offense at being belittled, even if Ted only meant to be kind. She pressed her lips together and kept her mouth shut. Ted seemed to notice her silence and thought of something to say. “What movie would you like to see?” “I don’t know what it is,” Andromeda replied annoyed, feeling very stupid at the moment, a feeling she was not used to. “I know, I meant, um, I should have asked a different question. Would you like to see something romantic or something with more action?” Ted glanced down at her as they walked up the road, Andromeda furrowed her brows in thought, “Something romantic. I think I have had my fair share of action today already.” “Perfect.” Ted smiled, “Hey now let me see a smile or mother will think I am a useless boyfriend and she will never let that go.” Andromeda couldn’t contain a small laughter, she looked fondly at Ted, “You aren’t useless, Ted. You know that right? I love you very much,” “I know, but I’ve been up your face all day even when I knew you were struggling with all we encountered, I have been pretty useless.” “It’s fine, it’s just my bad Black temper ruining everything as usual. I shouldn’t have lashed out on you at every turn when it really was them, I was…” She paused, taking a shaky breath, “am, upset with.” Ted balanced the paper bag on one arm as he leant down and brushed his cold lips tenderly against hers, Andromeda responded to the kiss softly and then she brought her hand up to his cheek, “Let’s get inside before we freeze our noses off.” Ted chuckled at her but brought his free arm around her waist and moved her towards the door and the warmth of the inside. Chapter 57 Mary and Fred had conveniently scheduled a dinner with Mrs Waitrose up the street and therefore Ted and Andromeda had the whole house to themselves. Which meant they could watch a film undisturbed in the living room. Not that Andromeda minded their company at all, but she wouldn’t have felt comfortable being snuggled up against Ted on the sofa if they had been present, and therefore she much preferred how the arrangement turned out. Ted had fetched them a blanket and he had prepared bowls with the snacks they had bought and placed them on the table in front of the sofa. He then proceeded to turn on the tv, which made Andromeda jump, as she hadn’t known it would light up. “Mum and dad actually got a colour tv, neat right?” Ted looked at Andromeda who was sat ready in the sofa and she gave him a look of confusion, “Huh? - Have you forgotten that I’m somewhat unfamiliar with this muggle technology?” “Oh, right, yeah, so the moving pictures will be in colour and not black and white. It’s quite new technology.” Ted scratched his head, and Andromeda snorted amused, “Colour is a new technology? – We’ve had coloured photography’s for ages.” “You have the advantage of magic, might I remind you, Miss Black.” Andromeda looked put off and scrunched her face together in a grimace, “Don’t call me that, it makes me feel like your student.” Ted laughed, “You mean you wouldn’t have a nice snuggle with any of our Hogwarts professors?” “Yeah, I’d have a snuggle with Professor McGonagall any day over you, Ted.” Andromeda said sarcastically. Ted ran towards her and she squealed as he jumped at her, pinning her under him, she laughed as she begged him to let her go, Ted smirked, “Are you ticklish?” Andromeda’s face turned from laughing to that of terror, and Ted saw his chance as he brought his hands to her sides and tickled her, she roared out in laughter as she begged him to stop. Ted only laughed at her, and when she was out of breath, he lifted his hands a little, and gave her a smirk, “Have you had enough?” “Yes!” Andromeda panted, “Please stop!” “What’s the secret code?” “I don’t know, muggles don’t suck.” Andromeda said trying to free herself from him, Ted rolled his eyes at her, and pulled a curl out of her face before kissing her passionately on the mouth. Andromeda immediately stopped fighting for freedom, and sank into his touch, and responded as eagerly to his kisses as he gave them. Ted trailed kisses down her neck, he lingered at her pulse-point which had her moan in pleasure before he moved further down. Andromeda found her hands running through Ted’s hair, and she felt truly blissful at that moment, completely overrun with passion. The movie lay forgotten on the floor, as Ted started to unbutton her robes, nothing would interrupt them now, they could give themselves completely to each other without worrying who might see or know about them. It was such a liberating feeling and Andromeda found herself desiring Ted’s touch even more. She brought his face up to hers again and kissed him fiercely on the mouth letting her tongue slide in between his lips, they were just about to deepen the kisses further when there was a knock on the door. Ted fell off Andromeda and off the couch, startling at the sound of the knock, Andromeda’s heart was racing in her chest, as she tried to catch her breath somewhat. Ted gathered his senses and stood up from the floor, straightening his clothes before moving out to the hallway to answer the door. Andromeda produced her wand and waved it to button her robes quickly, and to make herself look somewhat more presentable, her flustered cheeks and swollen lips she could do nothing about, however. Andromeda then walked out into the hallway to see who was at the door, even if she was a little sceptical at meeting other muggles than Ted’s parents. She heard happy voices before she could see who was at the door. But she was mighty surprised when she saw the ones who had knocked on the door. A young man who looked a little ragged with his long hair and leather jacket, he was about her and Ted’s age, and a young woman who looked absolutely gorgeous with long blonde hair with a gentle curl about the same age as them as well. Andromeda fell into the old habit of putting on her façade as she approached the unknown people in the hallway. Ted seemed only to notice she had stepped out into the hallway when the eyes of his guests went to her. Being the social butterfly he was, Ted immediately lit up and pulled her to him, “George, Elizabeth this is Andromeda. Andromeda these are my oldest friends, George and Elizabeth.” Andromeda felt uncomfortable under the scrutinising stare of, especially, Elizabeth who seemed to eye her from bottom to top to find some kind of fault with her. Which Elizabeth was granted because Andromeda’s choice of wear wasn’t muggle friendly. It was given a slight raise of eyebrow and a silent snort which was only noticed by Andromeda herself. Andromeda couldn’t find any fault with the woman in front of her, if but for her manners and her not being a witch and to be frank, being a witch couldn’t be counted as a fault lest she was as bad as her own mother. But in that instant Andromeda’s first instinct said that she had a rival in the woman in front of her, and for the first time in a long while she felt afraid of losing Ted and to be left all alone without him and without her family. Therefor it might have not seemed entirely out of place when Andromeda stiffly took Elizabeth’s outstretched hand and replied a court and stiff hello. Ted glanced at her giving her a look of confusion at her cold welcome towards Elizabeth when she hadn’t been cold towards George. Andromeda brushed it off and went to stand a little behind Ted again in the hallway. “Do you want to come in and join us for a while?” Ted asked, and it was accepted quickly by both and so they all followed suit into the living room, where Ted turned off the television and Andromeda folded the blanket and put it aside. Ted sat down in the sofa, thinking he’d be joined by Andromeda, but Elizabeth sat down next to him before she had time. Andromeda showed no hint of jealousy towards the woman and sat down in the chair without a word, George slouched down in the chair opposite of Andromeda, turning towards Ted with a smile, “It’s been too long since we last saw each other, Ted!” “Yes, wasn’t it at William’s party last May?” Ted replied, and George nodded, “Yup, and before that, Woodstock, remember?” “It’s hard to forget!” Ted laughed, “And you, Lizzy I haven’t seen you since before you left for uni?” “Your memory never fades, Teddy.” Elizabeth gave him a playful nudge and Andromeda fought the urge to raise her eyebrows and snort at the use of that nickname. She would try her best not to jump to conclusions this time. But her blood was beginning to heat up with jealousy. A trait she wasn’t very proud of owning. “How do you know each other?” George flickered his eyes towards Andromeda who had to withdraw her eyes from the scene at the sofa. “We met in school.” Andromeda replied with her façade firm in place, as was her due when meeting with people other than her closest family and friends. Ted gave her a distressed look as he was very keen on her liking his friends, so she offered George a small but stiff smile. “Oh, that’s quaint, we’ve never met any school-fellows of Ted’s from there.” Elizabeth said with a tilt of the head, which Andromeda registered as some sort of silent insult. “I think I mentioned Dromeda though.” Ted smiled, and Elizabeth touched his arm, “No, Teddy, I think we would have remembered. Me and George haven’t heard anything about her.” Andromeda bit her tongue hard to not say anything she might regret but this woman was almost worse than Rita Skeeter from her sister’s class. “We didn’t socialise with each other until our sixth year, so it might have gone unmentioned,” Andromeda said hiding her displeasure at being brushed off by the woman. “Really? What changed?” George asked, and Andromeda felt conflicted, how did you possibly explain that without giving away too much about the wizarding world. Ted came to her rescue however, “Our classes. We didn’t have any joint classes before then and we were in different houses, we hadn’t really met before then.” It was a white lie, but it was enough to get away with, as his friends swallowed it without question. Elizabeth even managed to look a little smug about it. Andromeda rolled her eyes discreetly. “Oh, but we’ll have a plethora of time now to get to know you,” George continued, and Ted nodded, “We should hang out more often, anyways, I feel like I never see you guys!” Andromeda couldn’t say that she didn’t want to get to know his friends, but she had no want of getting to know them, or rather, she didn’t really want to know Elizabeth. But she couldn’t express that there and then. “Yes, oh, and I could take you shopping, Anna.” Elizabeth gave her a sugar-coated smile and Andromeda felt her blood curdle, “It’s Andromeda.” “Oh, but that’s so long…” Elizabeth grimaced, “Anna is much shorter.” Andromeda bit her inner-cheek just to have something to stop her from hexing that muggle out of Britain. “Wouldn’t that be a lovely thing?” Ted asked her grinning, and Andromeda gave him a look which only he had time to interpret as angry. “I know all the good shops and have a very good sense for fashion. I could help you out.” Elizabeth gave her a pitiful look as she eyed her from top to bottom, grimacing at her attire. All that, of course, went unnoticed by the oblivious boys. Ted gave her an expectant stare, so she swallowed her Black pride and even conjured somewhat of a smile, “Sounds like fun.” “Great, what do you say about tomorrow?” Andromeda inwardly face-palmed, she had gone into a trap she couldn’t possibly get out of without being rude. “Tomorrow is my last day off, so I suppose we could,” “Perfect, I’ll come around about 11pm.” Andromeda barely managed a smile, but was saved by George, “What do you do then?” Maybe not as saved as she thought, Andromeda’s eyes flickered towards Ted for help, but she could tell he was as stunned by the question as she was, “Um, I’m training to become a healer.” Andromeda finally said, and was earned a scoff of scorn from Elizabeth, “Healer? I think that term was terminated in the 15th century.” Andromeda praised merlin she was well-mastered in controlling her facial expressions or she would have blushed at being thus humiliated. “In any case, she’s a great h… doctor trainee.” Ted said quickly, hoping his friends wouldn’t ask any more questions. They didn’t, thankfully, and George was the only one of the two who noticed the time and the fact that they had been ready to watch a movie before. He, therefore, much to the relief of Andromeda pointed out to Elizabeth that they should leave. Elizabeth did stand up but didn’t immediately go to the door where George had stood himself. She picked up the movie tape from the floor and read the title, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s, that’s a lovely movie, I love the scene when they finally kiss in the rain with the cat in-between them! Don’t you?” Andromeda turned her dark eyes towards Elizabeth straining herself to answer politely, “I don’t know.” “Andromeda hasn’t seen the film yet.” Ted said with good humour even though he was disappointed at her for having spoilt the ending. “You haven’t seen this movie? Where have you been living? Puritan England?” Andromeda didn’t know what she meant by that, but she could gather as much that it was meant as an insult. Ted however rolled his eyes in a playful way, “Everyone isn’t as into movies as you are, Liz.” “Oh, well, we should go.” Elizabeth finally retreated towards the door, and Andromeda felt relived that they were finally leaving, so she could be herself again. “Don’t feel inclined to leave, I mean we don’t mind you staying.” Ted said to his friends and Andromeda felt as though she had been struck by lightning. What on earth was he saying? “I mean, we don’t have anywhere to be.” Elizabeth began, and Andromeda growled under her breath, “Yeah, let’s watch the blasted movie together.” George caved in and returned to his chair. Andromeda drew a hand over the face, feeling her temper getting the better of her. She tried to breath deeply, and focus on nice things, but Elizabeth was making it unbelievably hard. It was in all going to be a long dull evening and Andromeda slumped down in her seat feeling utterly defeated.

Chapter 58 Andromeda had been stuck between Elizabeth and Ted all movie, Elizabeth was commenting gaily at every scene and turn, and Andromeda had no way of understanding this muggle thing as Ted couldn’t explain anything to her. It was in all a torturous hour and a half. Andromeda didn’t like the experience at all and didn’t feel up to ever watch another movie in her life. Mainly because of Elizabeth. But this time when George had decided that they should leave, they actually left much to the joy of Andromeda. When the door closed behind them, she let out a breath of exasperation. Ted gave her a funny look, and Andromeda sighed, men were really oblivious sometimes. However, Ted knew perfectly well what a sigh was, so he closed the gap between them in the narrow hallway and kissed her softly. “What did you think of them?” Ted asked when he pulled away, Andromeda who had thought about dropping the thing entirely felt her feelings rise again. “George was alright,” She replied courtly and Ted raised his eyebrows, “He was alright? What about Lizzy then?” “I’m tired, I’m off to bed,” Andromeda said ignoring his question as she pushed past him and went up the stairs. Mary and Fred decided to come home right at that moment, and his mother moved her glance from Andromeda’s disappearing back to Ted, “What did you do?” “What did I do? I did nothing. I just asked her what she thought about Lizzy.” Ted shrugged his shoulders and Mary sighed, “Ah, Ted. I think you did do something. Not intended of course, but Lizzy is always very on you and Andromeda might have not liked that.” Ted furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, “But she’s just my friend?” “Andromeda might not have seen it that way.” Mary gave him a stern look and Ted exhaled, “I’ll go talk to her. Night, mum, dad.” “Night son,” Fred cried up the stairs where Ted had gone. Ted found Andromeda face down in bed, with her back facing him, she had changed into nightwear, but the room was still bathing in light. “Do you want it to be lit?” Ted asked softly, “I didn’t know how to turn it off.” Andromeda muttered, and Ted couldn’t help but beam at her, he found it rather sweet that she knew so little of the muggle world. He turned out the light and undressed in silence, joining her under the covers. She still didn’t turn to him. Ted thought of how to gain her attention and so he brushed his cold feet against her, and she cried out at the sudden coldness. “Ted!” “Sorry, love, I was trying to make you talk to me.” “There are other ways to do that, Ted! Try words.” Andromeda growled, and Ted flashed a not so innocent smile, “Now that I do have your attention, why are you upset with me?” Andromeda turned her back to him again stubbornly, “I’m not upset with you.” “You are,” “Am not.” “Okay, come here then let me give you some smooches,” Ted reached out for her, but Andromeda rolled out of bed on the other side, “Eat slugs, Ted!” “Come on, Dromeda!” Ted stood on his knees in the bed, but Andromeda still stood on the floor eying him with a murderous look. “No, you should have used, what us wizards call, your brain earlier!” “Dromeda, I don’t get why you are upset with me!” Ted said pulling a hand through his ruffled hair, looking at her confused. “You let her talk to me like I was nothing more than a house-elf!” Andromeda bellowed, her nostrils flaring, and her eyes widening with anger, Ted looked slightly ashamed of himself as he glanced up at her, “I honestly didn’t notice that. Liz… Elizabeth is normally quite nice.” Second mistake that night, because it didn’t calm Andromeda one bit, her chest heaved with her quick breathing and she looked at him, angrier than ever before, and Ted felt his heart sink. “You go with her then, I’ll leave first thing tomorrow.” Andromeda hissed, feeling as though daggers shot through her. Ted’s eyes flashed with hurt and he fixed his eyes on her, “Dromeda, I don’t love her, she’s my best friend, we’ve always been close but not ever anything more than friends. I love you. I’m sorry if I didn’t notice the way she was talking down to you. I’ll do better next time. You know I wouldn’t ever deliberately hurt you!” Ted plead, and Andromeda was too weak at the moment to resist his desperate cry. She sighed, and her body shook with emotion as she sat down on the bedside again. Ted brought his hand to her face, cupping her cheek as he placed a loving kiss on her lips, Andromeda leaned in slightly, almost feeling as though she might have over-reacted a little. But then as Ted pulled a curl gently from her face, placing it behind her ear, kissing her forehead, he made the third mistake of that evening, “You’re so silly sometimes, Dromeda,” Ted wasn’t allowed time to finish the sentence because Andromeda pushed him away from her, her temper flaring up again, “Couch, Ted.” “I was going to say that you were silly for thinking there was someone better than you for me out there.” Ted quickly said but Andromeda remained cold, “Couch, now. We’ll talk tomorrow when you have realised your wrongs properly. Good night.” Ted sighed and stood up, he leaned down to catch her mouth in a chaste good night kiss, but he was stopped by her wand pressed against his chest, “You try to kiss me, and I will turn you into a ferret.” She warned, and Ted held up his hands, “Sorry, good night, I love you.” “I love me too.” Andromeda replied and turned away from him. Ted picked up his pillow and a blanket and made his way out of the room, he met his father by the stairs and Fred shook his head at him, “That wasn’t smooth,” “You eavesdropped?” Ted asked affronted and his mother who had appeared by the banister downstairs put her hands on her hips, “You were having a loud argument. And I’m very disappointed in how you handled it, Ted.” “I know, I’ll talk to her in the morning. I’ll sleep in the guest bedroom,” “No, couch, Ted.” Mary raised her finger towards the living room and Ted sighed, “Yes, couch.” Ted made himself as comfortable as could be in the couch, his height for once not abiding him. He then proceeded to think about his wrong-doings for hours before he finally fell into a restless sleep. Chapter 59 The next morning Andromeda woke up at six, feeling rather cold and lonely. Most of all she felt tired having hardly slept all night. She had been a little hard on Ted, she had let her temper get the better of her. But she still felt that he had treated her badly. He should have noticed the insults and he should have put an end to them. Not being able to fall asleep again, Andromeda stood up and put a robe around herself, putting her hair up in a messy bun. She noticed the dark circles under her eyes in the mirror on the inside of the wardrobe and sighed. She then proceeded downstairs making as little noise as possible not to wake Ted’s parents up. Andromeda walked on her tip-toes through the hallway and was about to sneak through the living-room into the kitchen when she heard a voice, “Mum is that you?” Andromeda froze on the spot, she turned around and saw Ted lying on the couch with his arm over his eyes, and she felt quite sorry for him, “It’s me.” Her voice came out in a hoarse whisper and Ted sat up quickly on the sofa, “Dromeda, I’m so sorry!” Andromeda smiled small at him, he was sitting so dishevelled in the sofa with his face darkened from the stubble that had appeared during the night. She advanced towards him and sat down on the edge of the sofa, kissing his cheek, “Am I forgiven then?” Ted asked worriedly, and he was greeted with a smile, “We still have to talk it through, but yes I’ll forgive you.” “I love you, Dromeda.” “I love you too, plonker.” Andromeda kissed him fondly on the lips, “I didn’t sleep all night thinking about it, and I realise I was wrong. I should have interfered. You don’t have to go shopping with her today. That was clearly meant as an insult. I’ll tell her you can’t come.” Ted said gently, and Andromeda pecked him on the nose, “Thank you,” “Do you want some coffee?” Ted asked and were about to stand up, but Andromeda pushed him back and squeezed herself in under the blanket, lying closely wrapped next to him on the sofa. Ted kissed her over the hair and held her tightly to him and before long they both had drifted off into sleep again. Mary came down by nine, only beating her husband by a few seconds, she stopped at the sight before her, and she smiled, “Fred, come here, bring the camera!” Fred came hurrying inside the living-room with a camera and stopped by his wife, and he smirked, “Looks like Ted’s out of trouble.” “This time,” Mary added with a quiet chuckle, “Why are we taking pictures of them sleeping, love?” Fred asked as his wife took their picture, she stopped and looked at her husband. “Because we have no pictures of them together, and it’s sweet and we need pictures to show our future grand-children.” Fred kissed his wife on the cheek, “Always a step ahead of everyone else, I’ll put the kettle on.” “I’ll join you and let those two sleep for a little while longer.” Mary followed her husband into the kitchen and closed the door behind them. Andromeda awoke snuggled up against Ted on the sofa, he was drawing circles on her arm absentmindedly. Their eyes met, and they kissed, “Good morning,” Ted kissed her brow, and Andromeda smiled, “Morning, what time is it?” “She’s 10.30pm,” Mary’s voice sounded from the door leading to the kitchens, Andromeda startled and would have fallen out of the sofa if Ted hadn’t caught her by the waist. Mary smirked at them, but Andromeda felt only flustered and embarrassed at being caught in such a compromising situation. She stood up and tied the robe tightly around herself again, regathering her hair into a tighter bun. Ted were slower, so Andromeda left him for the kitchens where Mary were. “Good morning, Mary.” Andromeda said a little awkwardly, and Mary smiled at the woman, “Good morning, Andromeda, there’s really no reason to feel embarrassed.” “We didn’t sleep there all night. I came down around six…” Andromeda began feeling the heat rise to her cheeks again. Mary took hold of her hand and squeezed it gently, “Really, we don’t mind. We are not going to have a trial over it. I’m just glad you two solved your argument.” Andromeda blushed, “You heard us then?” “Yes, and you were perfectly right. Ted is too kind for his own good, he doesn’t realise when Elizabeth is being overly-friendly.” “She’s always been like that?” Andromeda asked, receiving a cup of tea from the older woman gratefully, “Oh yes, I always got the feeling she wanted more than friendship. But Ted’s never seen her as anything but a friend. She doesn’t usually insult people though, I heard she got on your nerve.” “Yeah, but I probably over-reacted a little. It’s just hard to share him, because he’s all I have left.” Andromeda sighed and pulled a few curls, that had fallen down, behind her ear, Mary took hold of her hands, and stroke her thumb over Andromeda’s knuckles, “Andromeda, I have known my son all of his life, shocker? -No, but I know he loves you and Ted would never and will never leave your side. Ted is the most loyal boy I know. He would never abandon you, and me and Fred already love you as we would our own daughter. You have a family. You have us, and you do well to remember that when in doubt, Andromeda.” The emotions arose from the day before in Andromeda at Mary’s small speech and tears threatened to spill over, Ted chose that moment to enter the kitchens, and undoubtedly confused as to why Andromeda looked ready to cry, he came over and sat down on the chair next to Andromeda’s by the kitchen island. Ted ran his hand over her back, and she collapsed into his chest sobbing, quite out of character. Mary stood up and left quietly, as she didn’t want to make Andromeda uncomfortable with her presence. Fred who had stood in the doorway was led away by Mary but not before he had time to make a joke that earned him a whack over the head, “Should we get the camera for this too?” he had said. Ted comforted Andromeda, and when she had calmed down again, she left for the upstairs to get ready for the day. It wasn’t until she was done and ready the next problem arrived, quite literally. Andromeda was stood on the stairs as Mary answered the door, and behind it stood Elizabeth pampered and neat as last night. Andromeda wanted to turn on her heel and run back upstairs, but she was way to well-mannered for such a display, and all too proud for that matter. Mary let Elizabeth into the hallway, and Andromeda walked the remaining steps down to the floor and were about to offer her hand in greeting when Elizabeth hugged her. It was not a nice kind of hug, it was stiff and awkward, and Andromeda suspected very much forced. “Good morning, Anna! How are you?” Elizabeth said with a toothy smile, Mary eyed Andromeda inquiring at the nickname, Andromeda forced herself to smile back at the woman, “Good morning, Elizabeth. I’m well. Thank you, and you?” “Marvellous.” Elizabeth replied with hand gestures, whilst turning to Mary again, “The men aren’t about today?” “Fred and Ted are in the breakfast room.” “Splendid. I was going to take Anna shopping.” Elizabeth said and threw a nasty look on Andromeda’s attire. Mary seemed uncomfortable because of the tension in the room, and only smiled tightly. “How nice of you.” “Well, I try my best.” Elizabeth replied, and Andromeda rolled her eyes behind the woman’s back and Mary had to bite her lip not to laugh. “Do you need to get ready first?” It was a question not even Mary would have thought she’d ask. Andromeda was fully dressed, her hair was done, and she wore make-up, a blind man could tell she was ready to go. Mary began opening her mouth to retort, but Andromeda shook her head discreetly at Mary, turning to Elizabeth who had stood facing Mary. “I just need to fetch something first,” Andromeda hurried into the breakfast room, and approached Ted who sat with his father at the table, eating and reading the paper. She bowed down and kissed his cheek, as he barely looked up at her. Ted smiled and turned his face up and caught her lips in a kiss. “Hello gorgeous!” Andromeda whacked him over the head playfully and Ted turned to his father, “You see what I’ve got to deal with? I compliment her, and she hits me!” Fred whacked his son over the head, “I’m with Andromeda.” “See,” Andromeda smirked, and Ted pouted but then he laughed, “Do you want something to eat?” “No, I was coming to say that Elizabeth is here.” Andromeda gave him a displeased look and Ted frowned and then groaned, “I thought she wasn’t due in a while. I was going to greet her and send her off.” “Mm, anyway I haven’t got much choice now have I? – So I’m expecting something nice when I get back,” Andromeda said with a smirk, and Ted grinned, “I thought you hated surprises!” “Not as much as I’m going to hate this shopping trip.” Andromeda tilted her head, grimacing at Ted and he laughed, “I suppose not, I’ll think of something.” “Or you’ll sleep in the shed.” Fred tuned in and Ted turned towards his father, “Dad stop with the ideas!” “I’ll be off then,” Andromeda chuckled, and Ted stood up and leaned down and kissed her properly on the mouth, “Have fun.” Andromeda were about to leave the room when Fred looked at Ted with raised eyebrows, “Money?” “Oh, shit. Dromeda, you can’t use wizarding currency, I’ll fetch some muggle money upstairs.” Andromeda looked bewildered for a second before she remembered, “Oh, yeah thanks.” Ted hurried down the stairs with the money in hand, handing them over to Andromeda earning a quizzical eyebrow from Elizabeth. Andromeda noticed and thought how it must look to her. She had to swallow her pride though and accept the money as she had no other choice. Andromeda could feel her wand lying in the inside of her robes and felt a little more assured that she could at least get herself out of trouble if worst came to worst. It was with a heavy heart Andromeda followed Elizabeth out of the door, leaving Ted and Mary in the hallway. She didn’t even know where they were headed. Elizabeth stopped quite suddenly by a thing Andromeda recalled as a car, and opened the door with a key, Andromeda watched her intently, “I thought we’d drive into London,” Elizabeth explained, “I’m a very good driver.” Andromeda hummed and walked around the car and got in on the other side, that much she figured out herself. The drive to London were awful, Andromeda didn’t like the experience at all, it felt very wobbly and shaky. When they were driving into central London, Elizabeth turned down the radio a bit. “I thought we’d visit C&A they’ve got the latest things, and they sell jeans, thank god.” Andromeda who had enjoyed the silence for a while only hummed in response, but Elizabeth didn’t seem to mind. “Here’s a spot.” Elizabeth commented as they parked in a building where other cars were parked. Andromeda got out of the car, thankful that the ride was over feeling a little nauseous. Elizabeth locked the car and they began their walk out on the streets of London. It was in all a quite new experience, Andromeda hadn’t spent much time in muggle London and while it was nice and exciting it was also a little daunting. They passed a store with records, all though none of the wizard bands or singers were on the covers, Elizabeth pointed at a record with four boys on, “Don’t you love The Beatles? I was shattered when they split last year!” “I’ve never heard them.” Andromeda replied, there was no point in lying, but she could tell Elizabeth was surprised, “You’ve never heard of them? Seriously what planet are you from?” “I hadn’t time I’ve been studying.” Andromeda wished they would stray from the dangerous subject as quick as possible, and thankfully she was granted her wish, but not as she may have wanted. “You said you’re working?” Elizabeth began, as they continued their walk, Andromeda glanced at the woman feeling she had a motive with her question, “I’m in training,” “Oh, because I felt it was weird that Ted gave you money.” Elizabeth chuckled but her tone held much annoyance. Andromeda exhaled slowly, feeling the need to calm herself down before she was made angry, “I didn’t have any money on me. They’re in my vault.” “Oh, still, aren’t us women supposed to be independent, aye?” Elizabeth said it in a tone that suggested she wasn’t bantering but was very much pointing out a wrong. “I agree, and I believe I am. I’ve got 300.000 g…” Andromeda managed to stop herself before she blurted out ‘galleons’, “pounds,” she continued hoping she had remembered the correct word. Elizabeth’s face was all astonishment, “300.000 pounds? How on earth did you come across that sum? Did you rob a bank?” “It’s my allowance my parents saved for me.” Andromeda replied feeling weird talking about her parents with this woman. “Oh, how quaint.” Elizabeth replied shortly, Andromeda rubbed her temple, wishing for the day to be over already. Finally, they entered the store that said C&A, Andromeda had no interest in looking at the muggle clothing, but Elizabeth was looking at almost every item plucking things with her to try on. Madame Malkins did have finished items, but most of them were altered to match oneself perfectly. But these muggle items were only different sizes and not tailor-made. Andromeda frowned upon that, why would one wear anything that didn’t fit perfectly. “Where did you get your costume?” Andromeda turned around to be faced with a woman she had never seen in her life, her eyebrows went to her hairline, and she frowned, what on earth was the woman talking about? Costume? What insult when she was wearing a robe of the highest quality. Elizabeth had heard the remark and had a hard time keeping it together. “I’m not wearing a costume, you’d do well to mind your own business in the future.” The woman looked affronted and left with a mutter, Elizabeth sighed at her, “Why the rude tone, she was clearly in her right. Just because you have some weird, goth, clothes thing going on.” Andromeda shut her eyes, took a deep breath and kept focusing on not drawing her wand throwing jinxes at her. Elizabeth pulled her by the arm, “Here, try a pair of these, what size are you?” Andromeda eyed the blue trousers with contempt, having no wish to try them on, but Elizabeth was annoyingly persistent, “I don’t know, an 8 maybe.” Andromeda caved in, trying to eye-measure the trousers, because she did not want to spur a fight, this woman was after all one of Ted’s best friends. “Here, try them. I think jeans would be a better look. I’ll go find you a shirt to try.” Elizabeth left her by the fitting room. Unwillingly Andromeda went behind the drape and began to undress, something she wasn’t very keen on doing in a public fitting room. She had to lie her robe down on the floor, and then she slowly put on the jeans. They weren’t comfortable, and she didn’t feel good in them. They were stiff and impossible to bend over in. How muggles went about in these, she couldn’t for the love of Merlin understand. Elizabeth returned with a shirt, Andromeda accepted it and went to pull it over the head when Elizabeth noticed something on the floor by her robe. “What’s this?” Elizabeth picked the item up, “A stick?” Andromeda felt herself go ice-cold as she was half-way through pulling the t-shirt over her, she hurried and opened the drapes to find Elizabeth twirling her wand between her fingers, “Give me that!” Andromeda went for it, but Elizabeth held it away, “It’s just a stick, geez, what kind of a freak walks around with a stick?” Andromeda had had enough, she lounged forwards catching her wand from Elizabeth, giving her a murderous look that made Elizabeth back away, trembling a little. “Don’t you ever touch it again!” Andromeda hissed, and Elizabeth gave her a look of horror and of disgust. “How Ted ever came to love someone like you is beyond me. You’re a bloody freak.” Elizabeth managed to spit out and Andromeda closed the drapes in the woman’s face hurrying, putting on her robes again. Elizabeth had unfortunately not left, apparently set on still making Andromeda’s day terrible. However, when they exited the store, Andromeda bumped into someone whom she was very glad to see. “Molly!” Andromeda grinned, and the plump, red-haired woman looked at her, “Andy!” Molly cried surprised, “What on earth are you doing out here?” “I thought I’d have a look around,” Andromeda replied as Elizabeth was standing next to her, Molly then proceeded to hug her tightly, “Why are you not wearing muggle clothing? -Protect the secret and all you know…” Molly whispered in her ear and Andromeda smiled, “You know me, never one to follow the stream.” “Arthur and I have a place our own now, it’s nothing much but we would love to have you and Ted over.” Molly said as they released each other from the hug glancing carefully at Elizabeth, “We would love too! I’m sure its very nice.” Elizabeth stood stomping her foot impatiently and Molly looked at her and back at Andromeda, raising her eyebrows, Andromeda shook her head slightly mouthing ‘Don’t ask’. “So, Anna, I just remembered I need to run an errand, will you be able to get yourself back?” Elizabeth said then as she ran out of patience. Andromeda knew she was lying, and it was in all very rude to leave her be in London, but Andromeda felt so relieved that she swallowed the lie happily, “Yes, very much so.” “See you around then,” Elizabeth said without bothering with any other curtsies after Ted wasn’t there, so she just turned on her heel and left quickly. Andromeda and Molly took one look at each other and they began laughing. “You want to come with me?” Andromeda asked Molly, “I’d love to, haven’t seen you in ages, we could apparate to Ted’s place and then to ours. Arthur will be thrilled. Of course, he is working currently.” “I heard he was granted a place at the ministry!” Andromeda said excitedly, and Molly nodded, “Yes, he was. I’m very proud of him.” “And you’re getting married?” Andromeda asked as she spotted the ring on Molly’s finger, and the witch blushed gaily at her question, “We already did… last year it was quiet, I would have invited you but… your family...” “Oh,” Andromeda paused feeling sorry to have missed out, “I’m sure it was lovely anyways, don’t tell me you already have a baby too!” Molly laughed as Andromeda threw her a grin, “You mean you didn’t know?” Andromeda stopped laughing and her jaw dropped, “Blasted goblins, don’t tell me you have a bloody child without me knowing it!” “A baby boy” Molly smiled sheepishly, and Andromeda squealed, “Oh merlin’s trousers, I love babies! What’s his name?” “It’s William, but we call him Bill.” Molly said with joy, “I’m so happy for you! All though I feel like the worst friend ever, I had no idea!” Andromeda felt genuinely over-joyed at Molly’s news and felt the warmth of being in her company once more, even more so in contrast of Elizabeth’s poor company. “He’s with my brother currently, Gideon thought I needed a small break… Anyways, shall we get going?” Molly took hold of her hand and pulled her with her into an alley before Andromeda had time to ask more questions about this bundle of joy, “Ready?” Andromeda asked, and Molly nodded, “Ready.” And with a cracking noise they vanished into thin air and was transported into the hallway of Ted’s parents house. Ted hurried out into the hallway at the sound and smiled at the sight. “You didn’t last longer?” He teased, and Andromeda pushed him from her eying him sternly before allowing him to kiss her. “I brought a friend.” Andromeda stepped aside to reveal Molly, who was beaming brightly at Ted, and he lit up, “Molly, it’s been far too long!” “Likewise!” Molly embraced him, and they sat down to have a chat, needless to say Ted were equally surprised at the news of the Weasley wedding and the birth of their son.

“Couch, Ted.” “I was going to say that you were silly for thinking there was someone better than you for me out there.” Ted quickly said but Andromeda remained cold, “Couch, now. We’ll talk tomorrow when you have realised your wrongs properly. Good night.” Ted sighed and stood up, he leaned down to catch her mouth in a chaste good night kiss, but he was stopped by her wand pressed against his chest, “You try to kiss me, and I will turn you into a ferret.” She warned, and Ted held up his hands, “Sorry, good night, I love you.” “I love me too.” Men Mary har väldigt rätt när hon säger: I know he loves you and Ted would never and will never leave your side. Ted is the most loyal boy I know. He would never abandon you and me and Fred already love you as we would our own daughter. You have a family.
Chapter 60 Fred and Mary weren’t currently at home, so the young adults were left much to themselves, they decided that they would go with Molly to her and Arthur’s place and eat some dinner there. It felt nothing like it had yesterday when Andromeda had been forced to endure the company of Elizabeth and George, and it wasn’t that she wasn’t fascinated by them or their world but the fact that she felt as such an outcast. Someone who really had no place around their “table”. It was so much easier for her to spend time with other witches and wizards where she could be herself truly, and it made her wonder if Ted ever felt as an inbetweener. He had both worlds, but he couldn’t tell his friends about this whole magical world, there were big parts of his life that his friends had no idea off. Andromeda were awoken from thought as Ted and Molly stood up ready to go. Ted offered his hand and pulled her up from the sofa, they then grabbed hold of each other’s hands as they side-apparated to Molly and Arthur’s place, “The Burrow”. They arrived in front of a rather weather worn house, the upstairs seemed to have been placed on rather wobbly and could only be hold up by magic for the weight of the snow on the roof would have otherwise made it beckon. However, Andromeda didn’t fail to see the lovely quirkiness of the house and had therefor no scruples when they walked inside. The kitchen was combined with the ‘dining-room’ but it was rather cold since the fireplace wasn’t lit. Molly put her bags to the side and cursed as she looked for her wand, Andromeda easily pulled out hers from her wand-pocket and pointed at the firewood, “Incendio,” The flames were instant and the fire quickly started to warm the room, Molly stopped her frantic look for her wand and smiled gratefully at her friend, “Thank you!” Ted had a look around and noticed a watch on the wall, “It’s a rather interesting watch you have there, Molly.” He commented, and she went over to him, “Yes, it’s a magic one, it tells you all sorts of things.” Molly looked rather pleased with her item, but Ted grinned, “Mortal peril? What kind of things do you think Arthur gets up to at work?” “I know my husband and he’s rather… he gets himself into trouble sometimes, and if that’s any guideline of how my son will be, I’m taking no risks!” Andromeda had stood herself beside them, eying the interesting watch, “Wonderful work of magic there, Molly!” “Thank you, you are far too kind.” Molly replied with a warm smile. They went into the living room area and sat down in the sofa around the fireplace after lighting that one as well. Andromeda looked around the room curiously from her seat, noticing the Christmas decorations they had put up. Noticing something rather peculiar, a yellow duck in the Christmas tree. Ted seemed to have noticed too because he burst out laughing, “Arthur hung a rubber duck in the tree?” Molly sighed and shook her head, “Yes, he is so fascinated with muggles… I told him that it was probably not the function of a rubber duck.” “It certainly is not,” Ted chuckled, and Andromeda looked from the duck to Ted, wishing she could be as mirthful as him, but neither she nor Molly knew what a rubber duck was used for and therefor they could only smile. However, something else caught Andromeda’s interest; a photograph of a chubby, red haired baby with his face covered in cake. The photo was stood over the mantelpiece in the living-room, but Andromeda took hold of it, examining it closer. “Is this Bill?” Andromeda asked with a small smile, and Molly beamed, glowing with pride, “Yes, it is, Cedrella took the photo on his first birthday about a fortnight ago.” “He’s a very handsome boy,” Andromeda told her friend with a kind smile, “Ted, come look!” Ted who had been looking around the room came over to them, and eyed the photo and nodded, “Indeed he is, Molly you’ve done a great job!” Molly blushed, feeling very proud of her baby boy, and Ted smirked down at Andromeda, “Want to get one of those?” Of all things Andromeda had expected Ted to say, that was not it, and she froze, her eyes widened, and her mouth fell open. For the love of Merlin, they hadn’t even been intimate with each other in that way. Molly seemed humoured by this, and Ted bit his tongue hard not to laugh at her frightened expression. When they hadn’t said anything to calm her, Andromeda tried to compose herself, though her heart was racing with nervousness. “I guess, I mean, we should, I don’t, we can’t, well we haven’t… I… A baby?” Andromeda inwardly face-palmed, way to be all composed and act natural about it. She didn’t come across as a posh missus pureblood at all. If she hadn’t been so proud, she might have shoved her head into the wall just to stop the shame burning in her cheeks. Ted and Molly took one look at each other before they both burst out in laughter. Andromeda’s cheeks grew red with embarrassment and she refused to look at either of them wishing she could disappear. Ted embraced her, “Don’t be like that, Dromeda. We were just joking.” “It’s no joking matter.” Andromeda muttered into his chest, and he chuckled, “Fair enough, having a child is not a joke.” “It definitely isn’t.” Another man’s voice sounded, and the party turned to see Molly’s brother Gideon standing with a red-haired baby in his arms. He looked rather dishevelled. Ted snorted with laughter, “Gideon, I thought you’d only had Bill for a few hours.” Gideon sighed dramatically, “And so I did, but this thing has enough energy to keep eleven men running for days.” Molly shook her head at her brother, accepting Bill who held his arms outstretched for his mother whilst repeating, “Mama.” “See you another time, Bill, uncle Gideon – out.” Gideon left in a hurry after the pleasantries had been exchanged, and thus it was only the three and Bill left. “Maybe we should get started on supper, sorry about the babe. I thought Gideon would last longer.” Molly smiled, “That’s not a problem, Molly.” Andromeda replied kindly, and they all went into the kitchens. Molly started with the preparations for supper, and Ted accepted Bill to his arms. The toddler looked at Ted with some suspicion at first, before deciding that he liked him. Bill then turned in Ted’s arms and pointed at Molly, “Mama.” “Yes, that’s your mummy.” Ted cooed at Bill, and Bill nodded. “I’m Ted by the way, Ted Tonks.” Ted told Bill who seemed to process this with a very decided look, “Ed.” Bill tried, and Ted grinned, “Close enough.” Bill started fussing, and Ted took this as cue to start entertaining him, and therefore had Bill fly over his head whilst Bill squealed with laughter. They brought the game to the living-room as to not accidently get in the way of the cooking. Andromeda helped Molly out by setting the table with a flick of her wand, all the while keeping an eye on Ted playing with Bill in the living-room. Molly noticed and smiled, “Ted’s really great with him,” “He is,” “Bill was quite the surprise, but I love him, I definitely want more children,” Molly confessed as she stirred the soup in the cauldron over the fire. “He’s gorgeous,” Andromeda complimented, and Molly blushed, “Yes, that he is. Do you want any children, Andy?” Andromeda was surprised by the question and felt her cheeks grow warm, “I do after we’re married, but I’m not sure…” She didn’t finish the sentence, the fact that she might initially not be able to have any children were painful to her. Because she did want children in the future, lots of them. But alas, her genes might not allow her. Years of in-breeding within her family and the other pureblooded families had given the women within the family troubles producing children, her mother was no exception, and Andromeda would be no exception either, she might be completely barren for all she knew. Molly took hold of her hand gently, “Not sure?” She asked kindly, and Andromeda took a moment to compose herself, “I’m not entirely sure I’m capable of bearing children…” It was a very formal sentence, but Andromeda felt if it was better to distance herself from the problem. Molly was all sympathy, “I’m sure you will, and in any case, I’m here for you.” Andromeda shook off her sadness lightly before smiling, “Thank you, Molly. But let’s not dwell on that. You’ve made such a wonderful supper!” Molly let go of her hand, and they helped put the food on the table, Arthur arrived just on time for food, and they had in all, a wonderful evening. But Andromeda couldn’t quite get rid of her worries. It was something she hadn’t really pondered in a long time, but now it was all blooming up again, and she wondered if she should tell Ted. Give him a choice. After all, he might not want to be with her when he found out, and it was only right to give him the choice before they married. Ted noticed that she was unusually quiet and sent her a worried glance which she retorted with a smile. Even though she was feeling rather anxious. Should she tell him or not?

Du skriver underbart som vanligt, med många viktiga tankar och beskrivningar. it made her wonder if Ted ever felt as an inbetweener. He had both worlds, but he couldn’t tell his friends about this whole magical world, there were big parts of his life that his friends had no idea off. “Want to get one of those?” Of all things Andromeda had expected Ted to say, that was not it, and she froze, her eyes widened, and her mouth fell open. For the love of Merlin, they hadn’t even been intimate with each other in that way. She asked kindly, and Andromeda took a moment to compose herself, “I’m not entirely sure I’m capable of bearing children…” Sluta aldrig skriva! ♥♥♥ Läs gärna min fanfiction Borgen (sjunde året)! https://www.mugglarportalen.se/#forum.php?topic=51992&page=1#p4541123 11 jan, 2019 16:07 |
